Mary's Musings: November 2008
http://mxmusings.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Monday, 24 November 2008. No names, No Pack Drill ‘. Mum often used the phrase, ‘No names, No Pack Drill’, when she wanted to find out what had actually happened, without asking who had caused the mishap. I didn’t ask, then, where the saying came from. In The Wordsworth Dictionary of Idioms, I read that it is ‘An army phrase, from a form of punishment which involved offenders marching up and down carrying full equipment’. I wear my poppy with pride, but am so sad that it is still needed. My lovely new gr...

Dayve Dean: Sunday
http://dayvedean.blogspot.com/2014/07/sunday.html
Sunday, 6 July 2014. Today was a rare day off for me. Much needed after gigging in Newcaste upon Tyne yesterday. I was playing totally acoustically at a wedding at Blackfriars in the city centre. It was a lovely venue and wonderful audience involving busking requests (acoustic YMCA anyone? Along with the usual covers and originals. Lots of fun but a very late drive home and had to be up early to take the hire car back. It's partly down to lack of free time, working several jobs and travelling nationwide ...

Dayve Dean: Score writing
http://dayvedean.blogspot.com/2014/07/score-writing.html
Thursday, 3 July 2014. Following on from my recent long post about wanting to learn to be better at reading and writing music I've tried to score a reasonably new song using my iPad. It's not going well so far! This is about an hour's work and it's only vaguely right. No idea at all how to notate the strummed tenor guitar part. Still, if you'd like a sneak peak of a new song from me then here's a taster: :-). Posted by Dayve Dean at 23:29. Subscribe to Post Comments [ Atom. Links to this post:.

Dayve Dean: Rainy weekends, songwriting, electric guitar and looping pedal
http://dayvedean.blogspot.com/2015/03/rainy-weekends-songwriting-electric.html
Sunday, 1 March 2015. Rainy weekends, songwriting, electric guitar and looping pedal. I realised over the past few years that I've not given myself enough time to do the enjoyable parts of music making such as just chilling with a guitar and writing a new song. So have set myself a bit of a challenge to write a new song every week. I'm already running a little behind my schedule but the idea is to give myself time to experiment, get some ideas down and hopefully something good will come out of it.

Tuesday, 30 December 2008. Videos and shop links. Happy Christmas and New Year! I'm having a very chilled out Christmas break which makes a lovely change, and I'm looking forward to getting a few new things happening in the new year. I'm in a couple of TV shows available on the internet at the moment. Firstly, I was in the recent episode of Casualty as a barman sporting a lovely sailor suit. It's available for another few days on the BBC iPlayer at www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00gg3hz. And in other news!
