Nacreous Alchemy: February 2015
http://nacreousalchemy.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
February 28, 2015. I've been finding some great pieces to makeover. I love giving old neglected items a new life. I found this mail organizer. It was painted green and looked like it had been abandoned and unloved for some time. But I brought it home spruced it up and gave it a new look. I found this cabinet at a garage sale. I had a customer who wanted a custom medicine chest and I thought this would be perfect. Here's what it looked like before,. And here's what it looks like now! Links to this post.

Nacreous Alchemy: January 2015
http://nacreousalchemy.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
January 24, 2015. I've been reveling in the rare occurrence of winter weather here in SoCal. We even had a day of snow just ten minutes from the house. It's about 80 today and I'm actually enjoying the warmth! Of course in a couple of months I'll be my usual grumbly heat/sun hating self. I did capture a gorgeous sunrise last month. This month I've been busy working on some Gothic inspired Valentine treats. Here's a few of the items I've completed for the shop. Posted by Nacreous Alchemy. Spring Cleaning&...

April 12, 2015. I did get some actual work done last week. I finished a new jewelry box with this great paper I found recently, funeral coaches and distressed lace. I also finished a Poe shadow box I've been working on. I found a new technique to make my clay candles look like the are bleeding but also keep that melted wax look. This week I'm working on a miniature cemetery for a tiny shadow box frame I found recently. Time to bust out the clay and start making teeny tiny gravestones. Day of the dead.

Nacreous Alchemy: Frida Kahlo, Creepy Fortune Tellers, and Lizzie Borden!!!
http://nacreousalchemy.blogspot.com/2015/05/frida-kahlo-creepy-fortune-tellers-and.html
May 31, 2015. Frida Kahlo, Creepy Fortune Tellers, and Lizzie Borden! I was inspired by this peek into Frida's Closet. To create a new shadow box. I chose to put her in her studio with some of her beloved pets. There is no clear line from Frida to Lizzie, but they both happened this month. I may have overindulged in the blood splatter but after watching the series with Christina Ricci and loving the high camp factor I was inspired. Posted by Nacreous Alchemy. The Exploits of a Costume Hacker. Powered by LiveJournal.com. Mar 18th, 2010. Spring events: A quick overview. I would normally have done this earlier in the year (and probably would have saved myself some dead-ends and dilemmas if I had), but here's my general overview of what I'm planning for the two big dress-up events this spring: The Vampire's Masquerade Ball. Which is a little over a week away from today, and Norwescon, which is exactly two weeks away. (. Lists, descriptions, and assorted bloviating.

The Exploits of a Costume Hacker. Powered by LiveJournal.com. Mar 30th, 2010. I don't have time yet to do the typical blow-by-blow post for my Vampire's Masquerade Ball outfit, as I still have to get ready for Norwescon. (I've never before done two huge-outfit, pack-and-leave-home events within a week. It's proving to be a challenge in focusing and getting things done.) But I figured I could at least post a photo so you can see how it came out. For Thursday, I'm going to do two "stuff from my wardrobe th...
