Wildlife Photography by Andy Bate. Monday, 15 December 2008. With the tide predicted at 9.36m today i decided to head out to the shore line to try and photograph some waders. The secret when doing this is to get in position early and let the tide push the birds towards you. Having walked my intended site the day before with the RSPB warden (which was nice! I had a good idea of what kind of shots i was after . however as with wildlife photography it didnt quite happen like that! Danny Green - A Good Lad!

Brian Rafferty.Wildlife Photographer. Saturday, 27 September 2014. Leighton Moss . Egrets. This week the count of roosting egrets at Leighton Moss broke previous records with a staggering 182 birds present.These were of course mostly little egrets but there are still 3 Great White egrets present.During the day the birds tend to use the area down at the Morecambe and Allen pools for feeding .The Great whites also use the area at Lilian's hide to feed and commute between the two. This last week has seen me make a couple of visits to a favourite wader roost near Southport.I hadn't visited since March and obviously lots of birds present then had departed for the breeding grounds.Most of the knots had gone with only a couple of small groups present and there were only a very few godwits and grey plovers left.There were however still good numbers of sanderlings and dunlin with a scattering of ringed plovers. Time for a Chat.
