The view from my hotel room included nonetheless than a Burger King. Bogota is 8660 feet above sea level. Surprisingly, I didn't feel any altitude sickness. The hotel room was comfortable. On the way to dinner one night, stopped with co-workers at Casa Lucas. Cold beer and olives. The universal happy hour.

Wednesday, November 29, 2006. On the Rio: Mickey Hart Wheel of Time. The Chinese have a saying: "Buddha is a mountain, mountain is Buddha." Presiding over the confluence of 2 rivers, the Dadu and the Min, that sweep past the foot of Lingyun Hill at Leshan, is a large statue of Buddha. Carved from the rock face, it is a staggering 233 feet (71 meters) high and is even more impressive for having been created over 1200 years ago during the Tang dynasty. From Leshan ferry peir, boats go south to the Buddha.

Wednesday, July 01, 2015. 1 July 2015 Fare Thee Well. Listening to: Grateful Dead The Eleven (27 June 2015, Levi's Stadium, Santa Clara, CA). I enjoyed the Fare Thee Well concerts in Santa Clara. The music was great, the venue so-so, and the memories and stories priceless. Bill Walton seems to have enjoyed the show. Speculation as to whether the rainbow was "real" or "manufactured" still is being bantered about. It seemed a little too perfect, but there were raindrops and cool cloud formations.
