Tuesday, November 25, 2008. This year I decided to brine a turkey again, it was a hit last year. I used three gallons of water, 2 cups kosher salt, 1 cup of sugar, rosemary, thyme, whole head of garlic, whole allspice,onion and lemon for my brine. Monday, February 16, 2009. These can be filled with dates, raisins, nutella! Or just eat them plain! 1c light brown sugar. 2 1/2 c. pastry flour (sound in the baking isle with flour). 1/2 tsp baking powder. 1/2 tsp. salt. 2 1/2c. rolled oats. 2-3 drops almond extract. 1/4 tsp. vanilla. They will keep indefinitely in a cool, dry place. When ready to use, spread a filling on one cookie and top it with another, and eat immediately. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Friday, March 20, 2009. It's been over a month since I last posted on the family happenings! We have been extremely busy with activities, school, and lets not forget everybody getting sick. I swear whatever is going around lasts for at least a month. But here are some new pictures. Colin sporting his new glasses! Sunday, July 5, 2009. Lake Cumberland Kentucky- Day One. We had such a great time at Lake Cumberland! It's amazing how large the lake is, I mean it's easy to get lost and turned around so you have to pay attention to landmarks to find your way back. The boys said this was the best vacation ever! Here is Wesley just jumping off the back, he tried the slide earlier and loved it the first time daddy caught him but the second time he went under the water a little further than he was use to and didn't want to...

Sunday, February 15, 2009. Hanger Steak with Shallots Recipe. If hanger steaks aren't available where you are, you might want to try this recipe with a flank or skirt steak. 1 Tbsp canola or grapeseed oil. 4 hanger steaks, 6-8 ounces each (trimmed of main gristle running through center). Salt and freshly ground pepper. 2 Tbsp unsalted butter. 6 medium shallots, thinly sliced. 2 Tbsp red wine vinegar. 1/2 cup red wine. 2 Tbsp finely chopped Italian parsley.
