Summit Laboratory - Dean Lake. Jul 15, 2008. Looking back at the first half of the 2008 summer season, the weather has been wet and relatively cool. Cooler weather isn’t always ideal for summer recreation plans but it does help to keep aquatic plants and algae from becoming nuisances. On the other hand, the storm water that enters Dean Lake is typically high enough in phosphorus to stimulate algal blooms in the days following rain events. Sometimes the blooms are very isolated and almost unnoticeable.
