Friday, March 23, 2018. Mini excursion to Connecticut Historical Society Museum. We have been here before but when they label a special new exhibit as "That's Weird", it attracted our attention. We were able to get here before this exhibit closes next month. It was fun seeing the weird things that ended up at this Connecticut museum. Here are a few of the interesting things we saw. Things made out of the Charter Oak:. This was interesting in that it is very local (New Hartford). They were asking peop...

Debbie's Post: July 2014

http://debbiewash.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 8, 2014. Making the most of a trip to the VA Hospital. So what do you do when you have to leave the house at 5:30 am to drive over an hour to the VA hospital? These are pictures of where we were today and how it looks now. Continue below to see how it was that brought back many fond memories for me. And our my most favorite part of all was the Arcade. We loved the old claw machines. They were filled mostly with candies (unwrapped, but I lived! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Blogs of my friends.

Debbie's Post: November 2014

http://debbiewash.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Saturday, November 1, 2014. Now somehow my husband has amnesia and has forgotten how to turn over politely in bed without taking all the blankets and sheets with him. And who puts their leg on top of the blanket cementing it in place? Why take the blankets if you are not going to use them? I wake up and grumpily, grit my teeth and with all my might, reclaim my fair share. It does get exasperating to go to bed wishing to get a restful sleep and to find myself in a war. It was a trap question. One of the n...

Monday, June 15, 2015. Getaway to Westerly and Watch Hill, R.I. We had a nice weekend away for George's birthday. Our first day we made it to the beach and this park and other pretty sites shown here. Treated to special concert in the park. Yes, we climbed them. Despite it all, George really enjoyed it (he's not the disappointed photographer) and said it was going to be hard to top this birthday. Labels: 10 Lighthouse boat tour. Saturday, June 13, 2015. Connecticut Open House Day 2015. The door on stage ...

Debbie's Post: December 2013

http://debbiewash.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Tuesday, December 31, 2013. I won't sugar coat it. 2013 was the worst year of my life and yet I am having a hard time letting it go. Another year past makes it that much longer since I have seen or heard my Mom, that much longer from the last call, the last hug, the last look. As others are saying, "Happy New Year" deep down I am thinking what is happy about it? I will enter another year without a special part of me. Life will never be the same. I will get through this. We always do, don't we? See, I did...

Friday, October 3, 2014. Day tripping close to home. 65279;. We started with the inside guided tour. It is filled with unique furnishings and rooms with beautiful views and two turrets. This was the gong that sounded the begin of our tour. Its loud gong could easily summon anyone from the surrounding gardens. These were the chaise lounges by the door we entered. The "Great Seat" facing to view the sun setting beyond Tom Ball Mountain. First was the dining room. President McKinley was a guest here.

The Ripples of Precious Pebbles: The chains we forge in life

http://ripplesofpreciouspebbles.blogspot.com/2015/12/the-chains-we-forge-in-life.html

The Ripples of Precious Pebbles. Monday, December 7, 2015. The chains we forge in life. This weekend we saw a local production of "A Christmas Carol". We have seen the play or movie in various forms on numerous occasions but these words stood out to me:. 8220;You are fettered," said Scrooge, trembling. "Tell me why? I wear the chain I forged in life," replied the Ghost. "I made it link by link, and yard by yard; I girded it on of my own free will, and of my own free will I wore it.”. Jesus was the greate...

The Ripples of Precious Pebbles: What are your actions saying?

http://ripplesofpreciouspebbles.blogspot.com/2015/10/what-are-your-actions-saying.html

The Ripples of Precious Pebbles. Monday, October 5, 2015. What are your actions saying? This post might sting. Why do you go to church? To worship, to hear God's word, to confess sin, to take part in communion, to pray, to fellowship? Just going and sitting may be cleansing for your soul or bring you closer to God for the day, but what are the lasting affects of your Sunday worship? Not only for yourself but for others? How long into the week before you slip into the worldly ways? Is your faith dead?

The Ripples of Precious Pebbles. Saturday, October 24, 2015. Two sides to every story. This is the same tree trunk looked at from opposite ends. One is jagged and rough where the tree has rotted away. The scars and decay of life are exposed. I have quite an imagination, but what do you see in the center of both of these pictures? Two sides to every story. Wednesday, October 7, 2015. The other children adapted as these two new girls moved into their home. They had to share the attention but they were ...

The Ripples of Precious Pebbles: Introduction

http://ripplesofpreciouspebbles.blogspot.com/2015/10/introduction.html

The Ripples of Precious Pebbles. Friday, October 2, 2015. When I was young, we used to vacation at Cape Cod off season every year. The beach we stayed at was sandy but parts also contained many small rocks. I spent hours walking the beach, during day looking for the rare piece of sea glass and often settling for pretty pebbles. At night I looked up to the stars and moon and listened to the crashing waves. We are each like those rocks, precious pebbles tossed out into the water of life. Whether we tou...

http://ripplesofpreciouspebbles.blogspot.com/2015_11_01_archive.html

The Ripples of Precious Pebbles. Thursday, November 12, 2015. The Jigsaw Puzzle of Life. Upon reading Psalm 139:16, my attention was grabbed by the unintentional rhyming in this translation. It's a comforting little poem and makes it easier to commit to memory. All the days (you*) ordained for me. Were written in your book. Before one of them came to be.". I added "you" to help the rhythm a little. Starting with a rhyme, I felt led to close with one. May our lives reflect His love for us.

The Ripples of Precious Pebbles: Sowing without reaping

http://ripplesofpreciouspebbles.blogspot.com/2015/10/sowing-without-reaping.html

The Ripples of Precious Pebbles. Wednesday, October 7, 2015. Still top in my thoughts these days are my daughter's two adorable foster girls. They will be turning 2 and 3 next month. They have brought us such joy. Both are very busy yet they will let you hold them for a moment and snuggle. They have smiles that melt hearts and when they look at you, you know their thoughts are deeper than they can verbalize. The way to love anything is to realize that it may be lost." G.K. Chesterson.
