Dirk’s Shitweed | Rob in Gallup
https://robingallup.wordpress.com/2009/08/31/dirks-shitweed
From there to here and here to there, funny things are everywhere. Some of you who read my blog won’t find this funny at all, and I apologize in advance. I, on the other hand, thought it was hilarious. Dirk, one of my employees, just came into work after having the whole weekend off. I asked him how his weekend went. “Pretty good,” he said. “I smoked some Shitweed.”. I laughed like I understood so as not to appear ignorant, but then my curiosity got the better of me. 8220;What’s Shitweed? 8221; I asked.

When the Mayor and the Editor are Feuding | Rob in Gallup
https://robingallup.wordpress.com/2009/06/15/when-the-mayor-and-the-editor-are-feuding
From there to here and here to there, funny things are everywhere. When the Mayor and the Editor are Feuding. Only in a small town like Gallup does this happen. Joe, the editor and publisher of one of the two newspapers here in town, has an ongoing feud with Harry, the mayor. It was recently exascerbated when Joe ran a poll in his paper alleging that nearly 60% of people in town are dissatisfied with the mayor’s job performance. It makes me glad I just run a little coffee shop. Date : June 15, 2009.

One Man’s Roofing is Another Man’s… | Rob in Gallup
https://robingallup.wordpress.com/2009/09/16/one-mans-roofing-is-another-mans
From there to here and here to there, funny things are everywhere. One Man’s Roofing is Another Man’s…. Every so often, I have some minor epiphany that makes me understand my dad a little more. My dad had two main jobs that I can remember while I was growing up. He was either working in the ministry in various capacities (pastor, youth pastor, etc) or he was roofing houses. I started putting that knowledge to work shortly after high school. I continued learning and continued building. Several of ...So th...

Cafe as Creative Expression | Rob in Gallup
https://robingallup.wordpress.com/2009/06/25/cafe-as-creative-expression
From there to here and here to there, funny things are everywhere. Cafe as Creative Expression. So for those of you who don’t already know (and if you’re my friend on Facebook, your not knowing is sort of unthinkable), about a month ago I became the co-owner of the cyber cafe in Gallup where I had gone to work about two months prior. I want to share a major part of the reason I love it so much. I love the way that this place becomes, a little bit more every day, an extension of my own personality. I love...

Presidential Panhandling | Rob in Gallup
https://robingallup.wordpress.com/2009/06/16/presidential-panhandling
From there to here and here to there, funny things are everywhere. I frequently get email messages from President Barack Obama. That’s not what bothers me, even though I don’t remember asking to be included in his email distribution list. What bothers me is that most of the time he’s writing to ask for money. So why the hell is he constantly begging me for money? If you give today — any amount — you could be one of 5 first-time donors who will have a front row seat. When he won the election, I figured th...

Books | Rob in Gallup
https://robingallup.wordpress.com/books
From there to here and here to there, funny things are everywhere. I love to read, both fiction and nonfiction from many diverse genres. Like any good reader, I like to impose my tastes in reading upon others. If you really want to understand what moves me, as far as literary works are concerned, there is one book that you must read:. Aside from that, my tastes in reading are a bit eclectic. I read and study the Bible. The Song of Albion. I also love the. By Rob Bell or. And to top it all off, I’m ...

Manager vs Employee | Rob in Gallup
https://robingallup.wordpress.com/2009/07/16/manager-vs-employee
From there to here and here to there, funny things are everywhere. I have the best employees in the world. They are each my favorite for different reasons. One of them is named Kiera. Honestly, you have to see Kiera to understand Kiera, but I’ll do my best to describe. Kiera’s been here about a month now. She’s got most of her job down, with the exception of knowing how to make some of our less-frequently-ordered drinks. 8221; She nods. And I say, “So go WORK here! 8221; She got it. Date : July 16, 2009.

Barcelona – Please Don’t Go (With Drums) | Rob in Gallup
https://robingallup.wordpress.com/2009/08/18/barcelona-please-dont-go-with-drums
From there to here and here to there, funny things are everywhere. Barcelona – Please Don’t Go (With Drums). I recently fell in love with a song called “Please Don’t Go” by Barcelona. The song is gorgeous and recently gained a good amount of added exposure when it was featured in a YouTube video of the Kuroshio Sea exhibit in Okinawa, the second-largest indoor aquarium in the world. What an incredible exhibit. I. Visit this someday.). Second, I would like to point out that I am very humbly submitting thi...
