A little bit about me. Swifter than a weavers shuttle my days have passed. Sharing the pleasure of learning how to weave, spin and dye. Laquo; One thing leads to……a new spinning wheel! A new spinning wheel arrives! And I weave handspun. Here she is…. And another picture …….though this was Day 1 and I was finding my feet (or hands might be more appropriate ). I am unsure whether to buy ready made yarn or make my own at the moment, but its a great situation to be in. So many choices. This is just a reminde...

I make a blogging comeback, and buy a new loom. The primroses and daffodils are making it a real Easter garden at the moment. Second interuption. My neice has asked me to make her prom dress ( a strange new US custom that has crept into English society! This dress is much more fiddly than expected. The skirt ...

A little bit about me. Swifter than a weavers shuttle my days have passed. Sharing the pleasure of learning how to weave, spin and dye. Laquo; Happy Christmas. A new spinning wheel arrives! And I weave handspun. One thing leads to……a new spinning wheel! Christmas seems a long time ago. We squeezed 14 people into our tiny house for 3 days….and everyone managed to remain cheerful and constructive. 7 grandchildren ranging from 2 to 16 and our 4 adult kids and partners! My pastel scarves were well received.

Weaving on a Baby Wolf, dreaming of a Cranbrook. Monthly Archives: February 2010. February 16, 2010. This is the fourth scarf on one warp. I had about five inches to spare on the warp. Next I have a LOT of fringe twisting to do. February 3, 2010. More on the same warp. This one is Noro Silk Garden and my favorite so far of six on the same warp yarns. I love the Monet’s garden look of the color changes. Hadley Fiber Arts Guild. Swifter than a Weavers Shuttle. Blog at WordPress.com.

Falling down the slippery fibre slope. How It All Began. Noro Taiyo Poncho And A Lesson Learned. Comprised of cotton, silk, wool, and nylon, Noro Taiyo has some very natural colourways; and I can see myself in this rustic, bohemian yarn, curiously named “Colour 1”. This yarn is a good representation of me, as all my eye, hair, blush, and skin tones may be found in each skein. I decided to use Taiyo to knit my latest adventure, Stephanie Pearl-McPhee’s poncho. My resolve to raze two weeks of work. For...

Falling down the slippery fibre slope. How It All Began. A Captivating And Suspenseful Knit. A friend gave me three exquisite skeins of Alchemy 100% bamboo yarn in the 62c Resolution colourway, and I’ve visited and petted this yarn many times in the three years since I’ve had it, waiting for the right project to present itself. Clearly, something lacy and elegant, without being too busy, was in order. Enter Clapo-ktus. A hybrid of Clapotis. And even when it had been available, it had cost a fortune!

Here is the woolen needle book I finished earlier this month for a gift. Japanese Crafts: Woolly Embroidery. Published in English by Chronicle Books is what inspired me to try making a needle book. First Warp on the Varpapuu Table Loom | The Straight of the Goods
https://trapunto.wordpress.com/2013/02/27/first-warp-on-the-varpapuu-table-loom
The Straight of the Goods. Fixing up my old looms, Bergman countermarche to tabletop, with weaving and other threaded distractions. First Warp on the Varpapuu Table Loom. February 27, 2013. My first warp on the Varpapuu table loom needed to be low-risk, since I had no clue how well the loom would weave, or whether the very small rust spots on the reed would transmit stain. Nothing too light or precious. For the second half of the warp I wove some more samples, then started this little runner based on the...

The Straight of the Goods. Fixing up my old looms, Bergman countermarche to tabletop, with weaving and other threaded distractions. May 28, 2013. If you are wondering what my hand-turned maple bowl is doing in this photo, the answer is that it is pretending to be a Mata Ortiz pot. Mata Ortiz is a Mezzo-American revival pottery featuring clean forms and ornate surface decoration. Still, I found it really engrossing to design something so far outside the scope of what I’d design to please myself–to t...

A little bit about me. Swifter than a weavers shuttle my days have passed. Sharing the pleasure of learning how to weave, spin and dye. Searching for Inspiration and the quest for Duck Egg Blue!
