To The Finish Line
To The Finish Line. Reflections from Debra Solomon Baker. The Letters We Can Never Send. You winked at me on Friday morning. It was 7:16 and I heard you out there, whispering, Debra, it’s so lovely to finally meet you, here on this autumn day. Aren’t the yellow leaves beautiful on that tree? Yes, that one, Debra, the one over there to your left. But I kicked you in your knees with my newborn strength. I said, f-you, I know your kind, get your bloody hands away from me. Remember? My parents brought me home.
