Friday, July 31, 2015. Sea Turtle Sight Words Game {free printable}. We're still working on sight words with our 5-year-old. To make it a little more fun, I designed this BINGO-like game to play. This beats the pants off of flash cards any day. Who wouldn't want to play a game with a turtle named Ollie, Netty, Timber, or Ziggy right? Download the 9-page PDF for free from Google Drive here. Other players must scour their turtle card and place a game piece over the sight word if it's present. One of the le...

Friday, May 29, 2015. How to Make a Weather Vane. We have had some crazy weather here in the Midwest this spring: many days of rain, cooler-than-normal temps, and gusty winds. This activity was perfect for those blustery days. Making a weather vane is a simple project; gathering supplies is the hardest part. Disposable dinner plate (a sturdy one) - an extra is optional. Small plastic food container with a lid (dig one of your recyclables). Sharpened pencil with an eraser. Small rocks or glass baubles.

Yes, they're homeschooled. Yes, they're homeschooled. A Very Pinteresting Year. Wednesday, August 29, 2012. Homeschooling makes me brave. Homeschooling makes me brave. I think that's one reason I am so addicted to it. Things and ideas that I would normally be too afraid to embrace, are much less scary when they are required to further the education of my children. Sooooo. imagine my response when my oldest son, Bryson, begs me to buy him a dog. How about a fish? It would have been so easy to give up, and...

He loved his country. The British were coming. An alarm was needed. Two lights by sea. He rode his horse. From Boston to Lexington. Thursday, April 4, 2013.

Some of the typical memorization games I designed for our oldest son haven't seemed to improve the outcome of his weekly tests. It just wasn't sticking. No two kids are alike. Test scores are rising! Here's a few examples of what we've done the last few weeks.
