http://pawpawshouse.blogspot.com/2015/08/my-ladys-revolvers.html
Thursday, August 06, 2015. Milady is a revolver gal. She likes them, prefers them over semi-autos, and has good taste in her personal firearms. Let's review, shall we. Smith and Wesson Model 28-2. I sanded them down further, to fit her hand and she finished them with fingernail polish and clear-coat. Colt Police Positive Special, 32-20. It's hard to judge the relative size of my lady's battery, so I took one snapshot of all three. The Displaced Louisiana Guy. I am very fond of my M28. View From The Porch.

PawPaw's House: Nice Work!
http://pawpawshouse.blogspot.com/2015/08/nice-work.html
Sunday, August 09, 2015. My boy wanted to make a couple of holsters for the Fast Draw Bag, so this weekend when I saw him, I brought him a revolver and a catalog from El Paso Saddlery. I also included a basic holster from Triple K. He said he'd work on it and let me know. Dark, chocolate brown, left-handed, it looks wonderful. Oh, hell yes! He even put a bullet deflector on it. That's good work, son, and I appreciate your efforts. Rich, chocolate brown, great work! The old man is very happy.

Once Upon a Time: November 2016
http://pre1900.blogspot.com/2016_11_01_archive.html
Once Upon a Time. Wednesday, November 30, 2016. Simeon North, “the first official pistol maker of the U.S.”. Following the Revolutionary War the United States decided to standardize its own military arms. The first U.S. pistol was the Model 1799 North and Cheney. It was an ungainly-looking flintlock that was modeled on the equally unprepossessing French Model 1777. Manufactured between 1799 and 1802, only about 2,000 of the unique, brass-framed smoothbores were made. M-1799 North and Cheney. The M-1819 i...

PawPaw's House: Savage 110
http://pawpawshouse.blogspot.com/2012/07/savage-110.html
Friday, July 06, 2012. Has my scope gone south? Is the sun in my eyes, or the wind playing tricks? That composite target reveals ten (10) shots in under two inches, centered one inch over the aiming point. If my calculations are correct, that lets me shoot a game animal at about 250 yards and hold on hair the whole time. There is not a lot wrong with that for hunting purposes. Minute of deer out to 250 yards, with a hunting rifle, an un-bedded hunting rifle using a $200.00 scope. View my complete profile.

"Once Upon a Time": Hero of the Revolution

Once Upon a Time". Monday, December 19, 2016. Hero of the Revolution. His passion for military tactics pushed him to read extensively on artillery and ordnance; he even taught himself to speak and read French to read books that hadn’t been translated on these subjects. Henry’s love for the military eventually led him to join the local militia, which gave him valuable experience before the Revolution. Henry may not have signed the Declaration of Independence, but he sure did risk his neck to make it possi...

PawPaw's House: Creativity
http://pawpawshouse.blogspot.com/2006/04/creativity.html
Friday, April 14, 2006. Back when I was a parole officer, we routinely investigated allegations of wrongdoing committed by our parolees. Those allegations were many and varied and posed the great risk of incarceration to those folks we supervised. One of the tools we used was a pocket-sized dictaphone. A small tape recorder that we used to make notes, take evidence, and tape interviews. That little machine had a feature, that when you pressed the Record. Button and the device emitted a high pitched buzz.

PawPaw's House: Sport, or Game
http://pawpawshouse.blogspot.com/2015/08/sport-or-game.html
Saturday, August 08, 2015. Sport, or Game. Years ago, I read a quote by Ernest Hemingway, where he said that:. Whether that quote is accurate, or apocryphal. Is subject to wide interpretation. Whoever said it, I think that what they were referring to, is that in bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering there is a better than average chance of personal injury or death. Certainly motor racing has become more safe since Hemingway lived, but it still claims its share of victims. Invariably the soccer c...
