Russell Worthington: April 2010
http://russellworthington.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 13, 2010. Preparing for the Lemans start:. The FTR Dirtfest 50km race was set at the slickers race venue on Brisbane's northside. I've never seen this course dry for a full race, but we'd be using the newer, shortened 10km loop for this race. NICE, 5 laps . the shortest race I've ever done. FTR riders Tim McCullough and Josh Bamford getting off to a super fast start. Opening the throttle on one of the flat sections. Big Al down from the sunny coast, showing most of the vets how its done.

Russell Worthington: November 2008
http://russellworthington.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 24, 2008. Karingal 4hr is postponed for 2 weeks. Yippee! I'm finally training again, so grateful for another 2 weeks preparation. I made the most of it today with one of my regular road rides; nice hilly 185km with 2700m climbing. F*@k it was windy yesterday. It could have blown the paint clear off the side of your house. OK, slight exaggeration, but it did blow this tree over. I was struggling to keep the bike upright over the top of Mt Mee. Thursday, November 20, 2008. 5am start with O...

Wednesday, March 3, 2010. The 2010 race is underway, and the favourites (Pete Basinger, Jeff Oatley and Jay Petervary) are leading the way with a wealth of experience in these tough conditions. This year I'm watching from the luxury of my couch, but hopefully next year I can be on that startline myself. What an adventure[:-}. Here's a link to the latest news update. Here's the current leaderboard:. Labels: Iditarod Trail Invitational. This event is right up your alley Russ! March 3, 2010 at 9:51 AM.

Sunday, September 20, 2009. Woohoo, finally it has returned:P I actually want to be out on the bike again. There aint much racing left in the season and it's already warming up, but I think I'll still get down Mullimbimby way for the Freedom marathon through Nightcap National Park. At least it'll be well sheltered. Beautiful forest that one. Here are a few quick picks from my 10 deserts solo ride: more pics here. Labels: 10 deserts solo cycle epic. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Friday, March 6, 2009. 10 Deserts Solo Cycle Epic. Things have been a little quiet on the blogging front of late, but for good reason. My 24hr racing plans are also on hold whilst I'm planning, preparing and undertaking my 10 Deserts Solo Cycle Adventure:. To the best of my knowledge, the Anne Beadell Hwy (Great Victorian desert) has never been ridden. It contains only 4. This satellite view kinda puts things in perspective. Oz is called the sunburnt country for a reason:. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Russell Worthington: April 2009

Saturday, April 18, 2009. Sand between my toes. This ride was a bit of a learning experience for me with securing loads to bikes (without use of trailer). For any harsh off-road terrain, the occy straps I used for my 10lt water bladder just didn't cut the mustard for the speeds I wanted to travel at. I had to slow down and brake on down hills. Now that's just not cricket! Here are a few random pics from my ride Wed and Thur:. Labels: 10 deserts solo cycle epic. Friday, April 17, 2009. Please forward the ...

Russell Worthington: December 2009
http://russellworthington.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, December 26, 2009. Great Sandy NP - Cooloola Section. My original plans for Fraser Island didn't eventuate this Xmas thanks to the above weather pattern; a big low from T.C. Laurence and heaps of rain. I was still keen as a bean to get out on the fat-bike though, so instead headed to Great Sandy NP: Map. Even with all the rain from TC Laurence, water in the Noosa River was low. Last time I crossed this bridge, I dangled my feet off the bridge into the refreshing tea-tree water. Labels: 10 deser...

Sunday, November 22, 2009. 24 HOA Down Under. The announcement was made a while back. This event is going to be a big drawcard for Australian enduro MTB'ing next year. Aussies have faired well in this event even when it's held far from our shores. Next year I believe we'll have a massive showing. It's gonna be BIG! Saturday, November 7, 2009. Iditarod sled dog race:. Toughest Race on Earth - Discovery Channel. Wheels in the Wind - Alaska Ultrasport. Forgive the cheesy music! Sunday, November 1, 2009.
