Republican Identity Issues | Deconstructing Change
https://deconstructingchange.wordpress.com/2009/05/06/republican-identity-issues
8230;life in the real world. May 6, 2009 in big government. The GOP seems to be in the middle of an identity crisis. They’re looking to re-brand and re-package their message to motivate the base back to the tent. The biggest problem, in my mind, is that they haven’t simply had a few bad years – they’ve totally lost their way and no amount of re-packaging and re-branding is going to do much until they get back to basics. The number one basic they’ve totally lost sight of – LIMITED GOVERNMENT. A good examp...
Healthcare Reform by the Numbers | Deconstructing Change

8230;life in the real world. Healthcare Reform by the Numbers. March 13, 2009 in economy. President Obama decided that three pressing issues require attention this year – healthcare, energy and education; curiously, each sector is among the best performers in the current economic climate. Something that few are willing to seriously discuss. Why exactly might the government be pressing so hard to reform healthcare now? One quick and clever way to fix the problem is to make the issue a crisis for all of us...
On Torture | Deconstructing Change

8230;life in the real world. April 30, 2009 in torture. The fastest way to help someone understand why torture is unacceptable as a means to an end is this one sentence:. If we believe that tortue works and that we as a nation will engage in torture because it works….well, then we must accept that each and every last one of our enemies in each and every previous war with our country were justified to torture our captured soldiers since we believe it works too. Tax Reform, Inequality, and the Glut of Middle Class Loopholes | Red in Deep Blue
https://redindeepblue.wordpress.com/2011/09/21/tax-reform-inequality-and-the-glut-of-middle-class-loopholes
Red in Deep Blue. About “Red In Deep Blue”. Tax Reform, Inequality, and the Glut of Middle Class Loopholes. The Bush tax cuts were all set to expire as of 12/31/10, which would have reverted much of the tax code back to 2001 and raised taxes for everyone. They extended all the existing tax cuts and actually added new cuts. Biggest mistake ever. The Washington Post had an excellent article. While I appreciate my child tax credit, why should taxes be lower for population contributors than non-contributors?

Red in Deep Blue. About “Red In Deep Blue”. Steve Jobs, the “Welfare Mom”, and Occupy Wall Street. I keep hearing more and more about the Occupy Wall Street protestors. I understand that times are hard right now, but how does it help anyone to demonize Wall Street and make a list of demands. Where is the personal responsibility these days? Have we become so addicted to government entitlements that now people are coming up with lists of demands for our government? Life is never going to be fair, and all t...

Red in Deep Blue. About “Red In Deep Blue”. No Tea For Me. Mark Driscoll made the two following posts a few days ago:. Beware of anyone who talks a lot about God but not Jesus as the only God. Beware of anyone whose commitment is to country above Kingdom. Beware of anyone who talks of morality but not redemption thru the cross. I just do not get the Tea Party movement. Sorry…I am a fairly strong social conservative; I am a definite fiscal conservative, and with foreign policy I am still very mu...Maybe I...

Deconstructing America
America is falling apart, and we're here to figure why, how, and what to do. Welcome to the most important, uncensored, commentary blog on the web that discusses the political, economical, social, and cultural issues that are killing America. It wasn't from being conservative with what we do. So, the real question is, how much do we sacrifice? I guess a better question would be, are people willing to sacrifice? A smaller car or better light bulbs. I mean, these are little things here, and I wonder...

Wednesday, April 15, 2009. Don't Bully Me, It Won't Work. I suppose the blog has become a place for rants and raves, so I am going to take advantage of the medium. I am tired of people (i.e PR people) trying to bully me into writing stories how they want them. If I say I am not including a project in the magazine, do not call/email me to harass me as to why.you will not like the answer. The first response you will get is "It is a matter of taste, and it is not a good fit.". Monday, April 6, 2009. It was ...

Deconstructing Child Media | looking critically at media for and about children
Looking critically at media for and about children. May 9, 2010. Hello all, we are back! Sorry about the delay. Beauty and the Beast! A favourite childhood classic of mine. I thought I’d take some time to look at the way that this film depicts gender roles. Personally, I always viewed the story as being quite progressive Belle is not a helpless princess waiting for her prince as seen in the video here, she clearly makes up her own mind about the partner she desires.
