Peeking out to see if there is a real world out there. Thursday, June 30, 2005. Last night I stood at the checkout at my local co-op. I had timed my purchase so it would seem natural that I would choose the line that led to the clerk I've been trying to meet. I groaned "Oh my god, no", and, with wings sheared off I crashed and burned. I kept the happy grin, even improvised something that caused her to laugh again. Sunday, July 31, 2005. Off on the Wrong Foot. I am just DYING of embarrassment! We just came back from taking two dozen freshly baked chocolate chip cookies to our new neighbors. The door was wide open and she was either sleeping or resting. ( minus one point, interrupted nap.). After introducing me and the kids, I asked how many children she had, she said two.
