For The Long Run: June 2005
http://forthelongrun.blogspot.com/2005_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 27, 2005. I've developed a series of approximations and bizarre quasi-formulas that helps me get by, for the most part. I'm a runner, so this one is a bit easier for me to wrap my head around. I've done loads of 5-kilometer runs and know that the distance is around 3.1 miles. So, to get from kilometers to miles, I multiply by 3 and divide by 5. For example, what does 12 kilometers equal in miles? 12 * 3) / 5 = 7.2. Which is okay because it just doesn't get that hot here.). 40 C = 80 30 = 110...

For The Long Run: January 2005

Monday, January 31, 2005. Sans a Dog Running. When we moved into our house, I couldn't wait to get a dog. I pictured myself out for a morning run, a happy hound trotting merrily beside me. A girl and her dog, pounding the pavement in the morning mist. What could be better? Posted by -Ann @ 1:57 pm. Saturday, January 29, 2005. I've spent the last few weeks watching those strong souls in windbreakers and lycra leggins brave the wind, cold, snow and ice to get their runs in. Me? Today, I decided to run outs...

For The Long Run: August 2005
http://forthelongrun.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 17, 2005. On the July 27 this year, two things happened to me. The first is that I entered my so-called Jesus Year since it was my 33rd birthday. The second is that my US driver’s license expired. Two offices in Dublin provide the theory test. I called the central number to schedule my test. Yes, you can’t just show up, you have to book an exam time. The cost of this is 34 euro and the earliest they could get me in was 30 August, 2 weeks away. Goodbye to my dream of havi...No matter, I ...

For The Long Run: April 2005

Friday, April 29, 2005. Cowgirl Meets Fridge Philosophy. I've also decided to incorporate another philisophy into my personal ethos. I just read Tony Hawks' entertaining book Around Ireland with a Fridge. In which he hitchhikes around Ireland with a fridge in order to win a bet. In the course of his amusing adventures, he learned to not worry, to make choices and then let what was going to happen, happen. It's hard to do, especially for someone like me who has a Black Belt in worrying. Comparatively, my ...

For The Long Run: February 2005
http://forthelongrun.blogspot.com/2005_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 25, 2005. It was a busy week and I only read one book: Jonathan Kellerman's Billy Straight. Which alternated between freak-you-out-suspense and wake-me-when-it's-over boredom. It's going to be an even busier weekend, but hopefully I'll get to do some reading. On the desk for this weekend's reading are two books: The Expert Expatriate: Your Guide to Successful Relocation Abroad. And Personal Finance for Overseas Americans. Posted by -Ann @ 6:03 pm. Thursday, February 24, 2005. Unfortunate...

For The Long Run: July 2005
http://forthelongrun.blogspot.com/2005_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 27, 2005. I've started a small auxilliary blog to detail my traveling. You can check it out here:. I just posted a Trip Report (TM) of our recent short break in Germany. The break was short, but the posts are not, so you might want to print the sucker out for later reading enjoyment. Posted by -Ann @ 9:45 am. Thursday, July 14, 2005. What will I be reading this weekend? Come on, guess. I bet you can figure it out. It's the perfect creation and realization of another world. JK Rowling ...

For The Long Run: March 2005
http://forthelongrun.blogspot.com/2005_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 18, 2005. I explained the condundrum to the realtor like this. The first house was the clean-cut preppy boy that your mom and dad would love for you to bring home. He's polite, has good table-manners and plays well with others. He has a regular, good-paying job and he might be a little boring or normal at times, but he's an all-around good guy. So, who do you chose? The solid, dependable guy or the exciting, attractive, flaky artist? Posted by -Ann @ 8:34 pm. Tuesday, March 08, 2005. Spot, ...

The Right Hook Technology Slot. About The Right Hook. Sony VAIO-P The Rolls Royce of Netbooks. Posted 2 Mar 2009. I took the sexy svelte Sony VAIO-P out for a spin over the last few days. This is a very slick, amazing piece of work from Sony. A luscious high resolution screen combined with a really great keyboard. Did I say it was compact? This thing is really compact. It fitted comfortably into the inside pocket of my short jacket. Compare the sizes…. This thing is neat. 7 comments so far. On 3 Mar 2009.
