Friday, May 4, 2012. So where is Elkhorn Slough? Perhaps this picture of the electrical generating plant at Moss Landing between Watsonville and Castroville will help you remember. What a great day for a safari. We layered on the clothing just in case was too cool but you can tell we had to remove a layer as we got in the boat. So here is Gloria, Karen, Julie and Ray. Tuesday, May 21, 2013. San Jose Rose Garden (again). We did a blog entry a couple of years ago about the San Jose Rose Garden. The weather has been so perfect and the roses are in bloom so Julie and I packed a lunch and went a few days ago. No sooner did we break out the food for lunch than a beautiful mallard duck got out of the pond by the fountain and began to beg. We shoo'd him away but he came back a few times before getting the hint that we were not going to feed him. Ya know where I wanna bee?

Saturday, September 24, 2011. Using Sunset Beach as a Hub for Other Activities. Every September for a quite a few years we have camped at Sunset Beach, just out of Watsonville, CA. Sunday, September 23, 2012. Camping at Sunset State Beach. We love this "every-year" experience of camping at Sunset State Beach on the edge of beautiful Monterey Bay with some ward friends. For a few years now Julie and I have been arriving at the camp ground on Tuesday and spend the rest of the week mostly by ourselves.
