Easy and challenging Doubtful Sound Walks. The hostel offers three walks that cater to the needs of most visitors. One of these include the Hanging Valley Track which is a challenge for school students, while the second gives access to the Helena Falls on the opposite side of Doubful Sound and the third, is the old Doubtful Sound Track that follows the lower part of the original walking track. Set amongst beautiful surroundings, the hostel is comfortable, clean and provides a great base to explore the Fiordland National Park. A hostel manager resides at Deep Cove and is available to assist and advise parties staying at the hostel. Generally no vehicle transport is available. Cooking - large diesel burning stove and electric oven. Showers (two male and two female student shower units plus adult showers and ablutions). Ablutions - hot and cold water. Bedding (matresses and pillows provided).

How to get to Deep Cove. Although it may appear on the map that there is a road link through to the West Arm of Lake Manapouri from the Lillburn Valley this is not the case, as the road is blocked by a large bluff. The only access is by launch across Lake Manapouri to West Arm and then by bus to Deep Cove some 22 km away over the Wilmot Pass Road. Transport is not provided by the hostel.
