October 25, 2008. October, don't go! My weekend plans revolve around the kitchen: pumpkin bread, eggplant lasagna, cranberry scones. Last night I bought two baking dishes and a cookie sheet, so I can operate the oven in a more assembly-line fashion. Tomorrow night I'm hosting book club for the premiere time. We read Dracula. No Not even considering it. Enjoy these last few days of . (Bush? Bake in blissful ignorance. . Which has a flag-draped Drew Barrymore on the cover. (Wha? However, is thick, glossy,...

September 30, 2008. Last night I had a dream. 160;Harry Potter, and I woke up with my heart thudding because Voldemort was after me. From then on I slept with my back to the wall just in case anyone might try to alohomora my room. It was utterly awful; brought back repressed memories of my recurring childhood nightmare that the Joker had kidnapped me. In other news, they're building tree houses in Madison Square Park. September 29, 2008. France in the Pants. I'm going to visit Katja in Paris in December!

May 27, 2009. Going to kickboxing class last night. I can't move my arms hardly at all today. Not buying French Milk. By Lucy Knisley) sooner. I have to ration myself. I want to read it constantly all day, and it's making me homesick for Paris, but I am saving it for before-bedtime-only. I am also getting to sleep later than I should be as a result, but c'est la vie. Eating three cookies after making myself a healthful dinner of pasta with sugar snap peas and avocado-tomato salad. Foiled myself again!

March 31, 2009. I think you are my least favorite month. I'm really not sad to see you go. April, on the other hand, is full of potential. Full of completely lovely days like today, including walks to the Central Park subway stop with Sarah, and hot dogs devoured in the shadow of the Plaza. Utterly gorgeous day and dog. The evening, however, has been squandered on watching this trailer. This has been approximately 5 days in the making. I couldn't last any longer. Monday: Cupcake Café . March 28, 2009.

August 7, 2009. Lovely cool weather today. Accidentally got to work forty-five minutes early and went for a walk around Gramercy Park, which I despise and love in equal parts for its big iron gate and exclusivity. Just ate an entire pint of sugarplums in one sitting. Probably most likely will be sick later, but so worth it. Stone fruit is king at the moment. And I can’t get out of my head: Forgive me / they were delicious / so sweet / and so cold. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Betsy Ross crooked house.

November 24, 2008. November 14, 2008. I haven’t known what to say. I still don’t! And I don’t feel like making confessions about how weepy I was, and how for the next week I got a little teary at nearly every newspaper article or editorial. I came across. I still have the. From Nov. 5 sitting on my desk, and every now and then I glance over to see OBAMA written in capslock across the top because sometimes I can’t believe it really happened. You think I’m gushing now? But that was Wednesday. This is.

December 22, 2008. Technically, last week was not my first trip to Paris, but I hardly remember my first time there. The official first time was in tenth grade, a whirlwind tour of London and Paris over spring break, and that's really what the kicker was. Not that we had to cram two world capitals into seven days, but that I went to Paris right after my first glimpse of London. The grandness, the beautiful order and design of the city, the tiny cups of café crème,. Monday, we hit the big time. The Lo...
