Rolls-Royce Power Systems is to supply a total of 48 MTU Friedrichshafen 12V 4000 M53B diesel gensets, worth approximately EUR90 million for 12 Duke-class Type 23 frigates used by the United Kingdom’s Royal Navy (RN). The vessels were built between 1985 and 2002 and each will be equipped with four new diesel gensets, as part of the Royal Navy’s vessel life extension program.
