Career and College Preparedness: Where Things Stand Today. Over the past few decades, America has developed a college for all approach to K-12 education. Despite this, our college completion rates have remained static over the past 30 years, while other countries have surpassed us ( see OECD chart A1.1. Reflecting this college preparedness focus, CTE participation rates (as measured by students completing an occupational concentration) has declined from 23% in 1990 to 21% in 2005 ( NCES.

Talks about the rise in college coursework dedicated to game design and technology. While the article focuses on new coursework at the college/university level, it is exciting to see an academic response to the emerging needs of industry. It also gives rise to two thoughts.
