The Monster from the North – Perspective.
https://sayarbanerjee42.wordpress.com/2015/08/25/the-monster-from-the-north
August 25, 2015. April 17, 2016. The Monster from the North. It was a bird. It was a terrorbird. It was a Phorusrhacos. It was a mother. Her offspring had already grown large enough to hunt, but was still a juvenile. In a week’s time he would have left the nest. Naturally, it came as a rude shock to the mother when she woke up to find her nest bathed in a pool of blood that both was not and was her own. For had she known what it was, she might have thought twice over pursuing it. Interestingly, it fell o...

The Woman – Perspective.
https://sayarbanerjee42.wordpress.com/2015/04/13/the-woman-2
April 13, 2015. April 17, 2016. Come in, said the old maid standing at the door. The lamplight of the corridor exposed the stranger to be a woman with straight hair, probably in her early twenties. She was led through the corridor into the hall of an apartment which, surprisingly, had a fireplace. A couple of armchairs were arranged in front of it, one of which was occupied. She was asked to sit on the other. As she obeyed, she saw the maid leaving. Ananya Pal, said the stranger. What’s it like here?

The Hitch Hiker’s Guide to Calcutta – Perspective.

July 26, 2015. April 17, 2016. The Hitch Hiker’s Guide to Calcutta. Entry for Context, Concord 2015. Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the eastern side of the Indian Union lies a small unregarded. Located here over an area of roughly two hundred million square kilometres is an utterly insignificant little blue-white city whose British era-descended inhabitants are so amazingly primitive that they still think free WiFi is a pretty neat idea. This is not an article on it.

The Doomed Empire – Perspective.
https://sayarbanerjee42.wordpress.com/2015/01/16/the-doomed-empire
January 16, 2015. April 17, 2016. Standing I am at the edge of a cliff,. Staring into Night’s tantalizing attire. Fixedly staring like a statue of stone, stiff,. At all that remains of my doomed empire. Looms before me a grassless, barren field,. Choked by the smell of sulphur on fire. With ash, smoke and dust also is filled,. The air smothering my doomed empire. The forests are dying; the waters, drying. The state of our affairs is in straits dire. Children, before seeing the world, are dying,. Leaders,...

Birds of Two Feathers. The sun was furious; the earth, helpless. The light played tricks with the hot, dry air of the Mongolian desert. Vegetation was second only to water in ‘abundance,’ sand coming a distant third. A pair of sickles rose and fell over the parched earth, carrying a feathered blue avian creature in their wake. 8216;Tis A Farewell. As I sit here, with my thoughts to pen,. Flooded is my mind, with memories of friends. Golden memories, making my eyes swell,. With tears because ’tis a farewell. All the good times, we spent together,. The joyous trilling cackle, of our laughter. Today for one last time, I heard my school bell,. Chiming in its glory because ’tis a farewell. The scoldings of my teachers, the examinations,. Seem to be a mere figment, of my imagination. Whether we meet again, only time will tell. Today...

March 24, 2015. April 17, 2016. Note: This poem is based on the Lavender Town syndrome, an alleged peak in suicides of 7 to 12-year olds caused by the background theme music of Lavender Town in the first-generation Pokemon games released way back in February 1996. You can read more about it here. You can listen to the music here. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:.
