Thornybush Part 2 | Notes from the Brown Bag
https://notesfromthebrownbag.com/2014/07/19/thornybush-part-2
Notes from the Brown Bag. July 19, 2014. I’m back on US soil, sitting in the Atlanta airport after the 16 hour flight from Joburg. We have 2 hours until our flight to Dayton and free WIFI, so time to catch up on blogging. We’ve had internet the past few days, but it has been so limited that we focused on using it to Facetime the kids and post a quick Facebook or Instagram photo. Our remaining time at Thornybush was just as wonderful as our first day. Another morning, we tracked the elephants on the South...

An Assignment to Africa: Out of Africa
http://insouthernafrica.blogspot.com/2014/08/out-of-africa.html
An Assignment to Africa. Tuesday, July 29, 2014. This is the last day in Johannesburg, we are heading back home in the evening. We used the day to visit Lion Park, basically a zoo, near Jo'burg, to cuddle lion cubs. It was strange to see animals caged, after so many visits to parks where they are free roaming. Lion cubs were very cute! We saw rare white lions. We used the last few hours in South Africa to head towards Pretoria. Our way there led us next to a shantytown. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

An Assignment to Africa: In Zambia
http://insouthernafrica.blogspot.com/2014/07/in-zambia.html
An Assignment to Africa. Monday, July 28, 2014. We crossed the border to Zambia, and arrived in Livingstone on Sunday evening, being very tired after the rafting trip. We had a delicious meal of Kenyan-style T bone steak and Zambian goat in Cafe Zambezi. In the afternoon, we were flying to Johannesburg. Still, there was a bit of time to visit the Victoria Falls from the Zambian side. This side of the falls is MUCH wetter than the Zimbabwean side, and we were completely soaked in no time! Part II: by air.

Notes from the Brown Bag. The beauty of Facetime. July 15, 2014. It’s just 4. Short days until I see the kids again, but in reality, I’ve ‘seen’ them almost every one of the 30 days I’ve been in Africa via the beauty of Facetime. Here’s what my view of life back home has been like. Technology is amazing, isn’t it? Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window). Victoria Falls | Notes from the Brown Bag
https://notesfromthebrownbag.com/2014/07/21/victoria-falls
Notes from the Brown Bag. July 21, 2014. At the conclusion of our safari adventure. We hopped a charter flight from the airstrip outside of our lodge to the other airport in Kruger National Park — Nelspruit. From there, we caught a direct flight to Livingstone, the airport closest to Victoria Falls on the Zambian side. Our 4-seater flight from Thornybush to Nelspruit and the other passengers (backs pictured here) were from Solon and Sandusky. Small world! The next day, Thursday July 17, 2014 we had a pac...

Not Quite Sure What to Call This. Perhaps, The Experience of a Lifetime. A blog related to IBM Corporate Services Corp and South Africa Team 12. Sunday, July 27, 2014. Final Blog - Back In Raleigh, NC. Amazing How Time Flies. I aptly referenced this blog as "the experience of a lifetime" and it has certainly turned out to be so and easily a highlight of my IBM career. I'm not sure if that's attributed to the fact I have no highlights in my IBM Career (smile) or the program is just that great! IBM's Corpo...

Mafeking Reflections - 2014: A day to go before Adieu …
http://mafekingreflections.blogspot.com/2014/07/a-day-to-go-before-adieu.html
Monday, 7 July 2014. A day to go before Adieu …. Just a day to go before we say goodbye to Mafeking. While preparing for the final showdown tomorrow – preparing and finalising the deck – I felt it was time I made a short note on some of the most wonderful food we have been having all along. Hope this also acts as a food-guide for all future Jo’burg/Mafeking visitors. With Lemon Butter sauce, Peas and Fries. Had at Tashas. Rosebank Mall, Johannesburg. 8211; does this fish taste good! With pumpkin and spin...

Notes from the Brown Bag. Cultural Exchanges – Part 2. July 13, 2014. At the beginning of the assignment, many of us exchanged a token gift that represented our country — initial post here. Over the past 2 week, more teammates brought forth their cultural gifts and it was one of my favorite parts of this adventure. It was wonderful to learn about new countries, new cities, new religions, new customs, etc. From top to bottom –. 8230; what else would you expect, but chocolate! Paola from Costa Rica. Click ...
