Denis and The Good Life: Movies, Books, Arts, Travel, Food, Wine and More: January 2013
http://www.denisberk.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Denis and The Good Life: Movies, Books, Arts, Travel, Food, Wine and More. Thursday, January 31, 2013. Key West Old Movie Theatres. One of the things I’ve taken to doing in my travels recently is seek out old movie palaces or just old movie theatres. Most every town or city has them, though most are not used as theatres any longer if they even still exist. I started doing this after thinking and writing about the great movie palaces in Hollywood. And then in Denver. So why not check out other places?

Denis and The Good Life: Movies, Books, Arts, Travel, Food, Wine and More. Thursday, May 9, 2013. Imagine Denver 2020, Swallow Hill, Harry Tuft, Denver Folklore Center, Denver Folk Music in the 60s. Last night, I did another Community Forum for the Imagine Denver 2020. We were two guitars (six-string and 12-string) a bass and banjo. Steven Fromholz was there as well. He wrote I’d Have To Be Crazy. Which Willie Nelson recorded (you can hear Steven singing back up). I first met Steven at the Irish Pub ...

Denis and The Good Life: Movies, Books, Arts, Travel, Food, Wine and More. Sunday, March 17, 2013. St Patrick's Day - How about a Movie? Ahh, St. Patrick’s Day, when everyone becomes a little more Irish. My friend, Italian-American Ted Calantino, who owned and operated the Irish Pub in Pueblo, Colorado, adopted the moniker, Ted O’Calantino. So, yes, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated by those Irish or not. In the Name of the Father". Last November, and in fact it really only had film festival exposure in th...
Denis and The Good Life: Movies, Books, Arts, Travel, Food, Wine and More: September 2012

Denis and The Good Life: Movies, Books, Arts, Travel, Food, Wine and More. Friday, September 28, 2012. Elvis, Blue Hawaii and the Coco Palms Resort. The Island of Kauai is getting ready to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the film Blue Hawaii. Don’t worry that it is actually 52 years since the film was shot (1960) and 51 years since it was released - this is Hawaii. Blue Hawaii is celebrated on the Garden Island not just because of Elvis but because it was the first time that Kauai was portrayed in its ...

Denis and The Good Life: Movies, Books, Arts, Travel, Food, Wine and More. Thursday, June 6, 2013. Denver in 2020 - a Renaissance City. Developments in these individual endeavors became synergistically interrelated. The invention of the Guttenberg Press, for instance furthered learning and progressive development in a wide variety of other fields. Some of the great artists of the times also pursued knowledge and development of mathematics and science. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Friday, April 24, 2009. We have the music cranked (Classic Rewind-70s and 80s rock, perfect for today) and I'm cleaning and puttering, and Lila is playing "Africa". It's a nice day. And Justin gets home tomorrow.finally! PS The band-aid on her head is just for show. She loves putting band-aids there. Weirdo. ;). Saturday, April 18, 2009. Can seedlings feel smug? Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Cook Street School of Fine Cooking. At the end of the post! All's well that ends well! Cook Street School of Fine Cooking in Denver, CO is run terribly, and I would recommend that you stay far away from them! Cancel my enrollment in the Steak and Scotch Class. Ugh In conclusion, Cook Street does NOT have their crap together, and I would recommend that you stay far far away from Cook Street School of Fine Cooking in Denver. Snapshots and Pieces: A few hikes with my girl
http://snapshotsandpieces.blogspot.com/2009/10/few-hikes-with-my-girl.html
Wednesday, October 7, 2009. A few hikes with my girl. Lila and I went on a few short hikes this week (1.6 miles and 1.8 miles, respectively) to try and enjoy the last of this beautiful fall weather! I love rain and snow, but these warm fall days have been so lovely. I looked closer and it was a baby rattlesnake! It was curled up, sunning itself on the rock. Whoa! Anyway, here are some picture highlights from our adventures this week:. Still cant believe how big Lila is getting! October 7, 2009 at 3:04 PM.

Tuesday, October 21, 2008. Mama, I drew a happy face! Me: "Really, baby? Hold on, I'm coming over.". Bearface: "I drew hair! Here is his smile! That is so good! Let me go get my camera so I can take a picture.". Monday, October 20, 2008. Hurry up and wait. Well, I did it! This afternoon, I proudly cast my vote for our next president, Barack Obama. Early voting and no lines made the process a breeze. Alright November 4th, get here already! Sunday, October 19, 2008. I *heart* Turner Classic Movies. Wow I h...

Tuesday, August 25, 2009. Peter Rabbit Organics Review. A few weeks ago, I got the opportunity to review Peter Rabbit Organics Fruit Pouches. I'd been hearing/reading about them for awhile, and was excited to get the chance to try the product for myself. First, let me share with you a little about this U.K.-based company. From their website:. PR Organics is a small, privately-owned company; we are passionate about what we do and we have a lot of fun working together. And now, onto the fruit pouches!

Snapshots and Pieces: July 2008
http://snapshotsandpieces.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 27, 2008. The Olympics are coming, the Olympics are coming! Poor Justin. I'm sure he's already dreading it. Not that he hates the Olympics.I'm sure he likes them just fine. What he does dread is having 290384323 hours of Olympics' coverage on our DVR. It's gonna be worse than when a tennis Grand Slam is on (he thought Wimbledon lasted a month, I kid you not, because of how much tennis I watched). I, however, am super duper excited! I love the Olympics. Bring it on! Friday, July 25, 2008.

Tuesday, July 14, 2009. What's On Your Nightstand? This is my first time participating in What's On Your Nightstand, and I'm pretty late (everyone else did theirs in June). But I'm here! I'm reading 2 historical nonfictions right now, and am loving one and think the other is okay. The first is The Devil In The White City. I'll be sad when this one is over. The second book I'm reading right now is The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher. So, what's on your nightstand? Friday, July 10, 2009. Recently, someone made a...

http://snapshotsandpieces.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 25, 2009. Of Tennis and Fire. I'm loving my French Open coverage.each year, TV tennis coverage gets better and better. And the Tennis HD channel? Anyone that knows me knows how crazy I am about tennis. Poor Justin doesn't get get any TV time when tennis is on. Last year, Lila already knew what the red French clay is called (terre battue). I watch it obsessively, I tells ya! Nice one, douche. Why does he have that little factoid stored in his brain, anyway? Where was I going with all of this?

Monday, January 12, 2009. National Western Stock Show. Despite my little bear having a terrible head cold, she still had a really terrific time at the National Western Stock Show. To do with her wish to go back (seriously, it was big, and she ate the entire thing). Grandpa also took her into the cool petting zoo- there were llamas and chickens and goats and sheep and pigs milling about, and they were all so gentle! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
