Thoughts on family, faith, and culture. Sunday, June 28, 2015. If you're gonna face jet lag, do it somewhere with really goooood coffee. And the fact Italian coffee shops open at 8am on weekdays. And restaurants open for dinner at 7pm on weekends just proves. I was meant to be Italian. It was amazing - even better in retrospect. Denny & Co.: July 2014

http://www.dennyandco.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Thoughts on family, faith, and culture. Saturday, July 26, 2014. Generous Tonsils, Part 1. Last year, I did not know what a tonsil was. Nor did I suspect it of nefarious interference in my child's behavior. Now that I am older and wiser, I thought I'd share our most recent medical odyssey, not only for Aaron's loving reflection when he's all grown up (My parents took such good care of me! But also for the edification of other ignorant parents out there (Tonsils are evil). We saw him January 2013. He ...

Denny & Co.: The Denny Disney Adventure of 2013

http://www.dennyandco.blogspot.com/2013/02/the-denny-disney-adventure-of-2013.html

Thoughts on family, faith, and culture. Sunday, February 3, 2013. The Denny Disney Adventure of 2013. We're back, we survived, and I'll be the first to admit, Operation Walt Disney World (WDW) was a success. We loved. It All of us. Since I was more nervous than excited beforehand, I thought I'd start with a post about why. How It All Began. A year ago, I asked Josh how he'd like to celebrate tenure (calm down - he doesn't have it yet), and he knew immediately: Take the boys to Disney. So we worked out a ...

Denny & Co.: December 2014

http://www.dennyandco.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Thoughts on family, faith, and culture. Wednesday, December 3, 2014. For a little over a year now, I feel like the scales have gradually been falling away from my eyes, revealing particular injustices around me. Not that I've had any illusions that the world is fair, or that injustice happens on the grand scale, but that I'd failed to see its systematic presence in my own little sphere, in my community. Adulthood seems to be the actual, lifelong stage for figuring out this crazy, complicated world. And t...

The House of Anderson: 8 months old!

http://thehouseofanderson.blogspot.com/2015/07/8-months-old.html

Saturday, July 4, 2015. You knew the Sailor dress was coming, right? This baby loves to eat! She's 100% table food now, and will eat pretty much anything you put in front of her. Her favorites are deli ham and blueberries. She also loves chicken, strawberries, pancakes. This is where she eats breakfast and lunch. She loves to sit here so she can be in the center of the action when I'm cooking and the boys are eating at the island. She's crawling hands and knees now, and she is FAST! Love you Sailor June!

The House of Anderson: November 2014

http://thehouseofanderson.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Friday, November 21, 2014. More of Sailor's first days. Scott, Sailor and I spent a total of 5 days and 4 nights in the hospital which is by far the longest hospital stay I've ever had! Even though those days included some very painful moments (c-sections are not for wimps! And sleepless nights (5lb 13oz babies nurse a LOT), we emerged from our stay with mostly fond memories of a quiet, restful retreat with room service and sweet Sailor snuggles. She looks so much like Keaton as a baby! The next day, Gra...

The House of Anderson: Bye Bye 1st Grade!

http://thehouseofanderson.blogspot.com/2015/06/bye-bye-1st-grade.html

Friday, June 26, 2015. Bye Bye 1st Grade! So proud of this big boy. He finished off his first grade year so strong. I can't believe this friendly, confident first grader is the same boy that I bribed to get on the bus each day last September. He changed so much this year, and really grew to love school. I pray that he'll never lose his love of learning! We totally didn't plan for him to wear the same shirt on the first and last day, but it helps with comparison! We will miss Mr. Krueger!

The House of Anderson: February 2015

http://thehouseofanderson.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 20, 2015. In the weeks leading up to Valentines Day, I had an idea to throw a kids only Valentines party at our house. This would allow my kids a chance to hang out with some of their friends, and would ALSO give the parents a kids free date night for V day. Thankfully, my servant-hearted hubby was on board with my idea too. I sent out the invitations and 10 kiddos RSVP'd! The boys and I had a blast setting the table and putting out the decorations. Here she is with her Daddy Valentine.

The House of Anderson: January 2015

http://thehouseofanderson.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 28, 2015. To me, one of the most amazing things about having kids is getting to relive your own childhood in some way. When I was a kid, there was nothing like waking up on a school morning and finding a blanket of snow outside your window and then finding out school is cancelled! So thankful that Scott stayed home and enjoyed the snow with the boys. Growing up in Miami, Scott obviously never had snow days. This is all new for Daddy too! Look at my giant snowball, Mom! Scott was a litt...

The House of Anderson: April 2015

http://thehouseofanderson.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 30, 2015. We called Scott and he came home from work and we headed off to Baptist Hospital. At 3:00am, our baby BOY arrived! 7 years ago today! He let me do a little photo shoot with him on Sunday. Most of the pics turned out pretty good, but he had this expression on his face in most of them like, "really, mom? This boy LIVES for his birthday, as I guess most kids do. This morning on our way to the bus stop, he says, "Just think, Mom. For some people, this is just an ordinary day! He kee...

The House of Anderson: May 2014

http://thehouseofanderson.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 26, 2014. May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii! Friday was the official May Day celebration at Keaton's school. May Day (Lei Day) is a huge deal here in Hawaii. Lei Day is a celebration of Hawaiian culture, or the aloha spirit. It technically happens on May 1st, but its normal for the celebrations to last throughout the month of May. Keaton's school practiced for weeks and weeks, and it was such a treat to see the day to come together. Oh well, he still looked pretty cute. Mark was not so impressed w...

Collins Family

Sunday, July 28, 2013. Had this post ready to go last September. How have I been slacking with blogging for so long? Greyson is such a happy baby! We love having this wonderful baby boy in our family! He is just so sweet and smiley. He is a Momma's boy for sure, but he sure loves his Daddy and his big sister Jayden. He seems to be a lot more adventurous than Jayden was. He is a lot rougher on toys and things than Jayden was. Such a boy! We just LOVE him! Denny and Cyndi Collins Family. Denny has been wit...
