11th - 25th July 2015. Since March 2010 a change in the law has resulted in several cases of people being charged with hate crimes. Notably here in Derby we have seen the first UK prosecution of it s kind for stirring up hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation. The body of work presented here has been produced as a direct response to these highly publicised occurrences and it attempts to explore the feelings these crimes have provoked from the viewpoint of one of the recipients. The Bishop Rawlinson Library is named after the eminent theologian, and second Bishop of Derby, the Right Reverend Dr Alfred Edward John Rawlinson (1884-1960) whose collection of historical and theological texts formed the core of a library for Derby Cathedral. The Library holds copies of many of Bishop Rawlinson’s own publications, including his commentary on St Mark’s Gospel, published in 1925, and his Bampton Lectures of the following year.
