Sunday, 12 May 2013. Trophies from the Lakes. On Saturday both Mrs Noel and I went to the Lakes to run Fairfield Horseshoe. This was an English Championship race, so attracted the cream of English fellrunning. Normally Mrs Noel returns from a fell race with some sort of prize, but was resigned to coming home from this one empty-handed. Luckily, she noticed the Lakeland shop after the race. She now seems very pleased with her new dishcloths. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Pennine Fell Runners Blog.

Noel's training and random other stuff blog: I won a fell race
http://noels-training.blogspot.com/2013/08/i-won-fell-race.html
Saturday, 17 August 2013. I won a fell race. Yes, you read the title correctly! I won a fell race. After about ten years of slowly improving and attending lots of local races that the top runners might not fancy doing. It was Disley Diamond Dash. This was the second year the race has been run. Last year was part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations - hence the name. It was about 5 miles and did a pleasant loop of Lyme Park. I can at least dream. 19 August 2013 at 04:29. 19 August 2013 at 05:15. Hi there,I...

Noel's training and random other stuff blog: Guanabana - go go
http://noels-training.blogspot.com/2014/03/guanabana-go-go.html
Sunday, 16 March 2014. Guanabana - go go. Today I took part in a controlled experiment on a new dietary supplement. Since Journal of Sports Science. Weren't interested in my results, I have instead 'published' them here. Background: No previous studies have assessed the effects of guanabana juice on endurance athletes. In fact, very few people knew about this juice drink, despite its availability in Tesco Metro, Sheffield. N=1 (me - Mrs Noel wasn't too keen on it). As previously noted, I have been traini...

Off Course Phalarope: June 2012

Wednesday, 27 June 2012. Cragg Vale Fell Race. What a cracking little race. I got stuck in traffic on the way and thought I was going to miss it. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. A mix of tarmac, trails, trods and tussocky bogs and a great downhill finish.and it didn't rain! I managed to get a dip in the river after and the the tea and cakes hit the spot nicely. What a shame I forgot to apply my midge cream; I have an array of red splotches that are going to drive me crazy over the next few days! The first...

Noel's training and random other stuff blog: Famous Grouse fell race - taking it easy is tiring
http://noels-training.blogspot.com/2013/11/famous-grouse-fell-race-taking-it-easy.html
Sunday, 24 November 2013. Famous Grouse fell race - taking it easy is tiring. Normally, I don't race in the winter. Instead taking time to put on weight and look after myself during the dark nights and short days. I tell people it's my cheese-eating season. Mrs Noel is made of sterner stuff - she was 3rd lady today, but was quite happy to have a go at the cupboard when we got back. A nice big meal and a non-drinking relaxed night should really help restore me. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Saturday...

Tuesday, 7 May 2013. We had some things to do in the garden so I decided it couldn't be too hard to drive a digger myself. Once it was delivered, it took about an hour to find the key and then to find how to get it started. I then printed a list of instructions from the internet about what not to do. The good thing about digging in this way is that you don't get tired. So on Sunday, I went for a nice slow long run before a day's digging. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Pennine Fell Runners Blog. Feet In The Crowds. The infrequent ramblings of a keen but not overly-talented runner currently languishing in London but dreaming of the fells. Sunday, 29 September 2013. The Gore-Tex Transalpine run 31 August to 6 September 2013. This is a post written for Herne Hill Harriers quarterly magazine 'Red and Black'. Update:. Type 1: simple, instant gratification - what normal people call fun. Not pleasurable at the time but something that you enjoy looking back at - retrospective fun. Briefing about the nex...

testedtodestruction: September 2014
http://testedtodestruction.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Training. Racing. Breaking stuff. http:/ app.strava.com/athletes/371465. Monday, 1 September 2014. I was in 2 minds as to whether to write this one, but it was indeed a race that I entered. To be honest it was a bit of a spur of the moment decision, it being very close indeed, a good run out, and on a lovely day. I also had a modest chance of a top 10 finish if it all went well. Chasing Mark up the hill. The ground is quite broken and slippy along the way, but not to worry. You just don't, do you? I'm ri...

testedtodestruction: Cracken edge fell race 2015
http://testedtodestruction.blogspot.com/2015/08/cracken-edge-fell-race-2015.html
Training. Racing. Breaking stuff. http:/ app.strava.com/athletes/371465. Friday, 7 August 2015. Cracken edge fell race 2015. Obligatory race entry photo. So this is a little late, I must apologise for having little time to catch up with myself. We had 4 runners this year, I believe Kinder fielded 1 runner, and so did Woodhead. So I think we won by default, but we still had a bit of a lively race anyway. There was a decent crowd out from GDH, perhaps not as many as Pennine, but there were a good number th...

testedtodestruction: Long Tour of Bradwell - 2015
http://testedtodestruction.blogspot.com/2015/08/long-tour-of-bradwell-2015.html
Training. Racing. Breaking stuff. http:/ app.strava.com/athletes/371465. Sunday, 9 August 2015. Long Tour of Bradwell - 2015. I was thinking about calling this the Long Blog of Bradwell, but it wouldn't come up on google so well, so decided not to. I suspect this might be a long one with precious few pictures, so please accept my apologies in advance. A non-restful week of cycle commuting to a new place of work and a race in the middle. Lynne and I (accompanied by Martin - my sisters other half, who was ...
