Posted by batikantik on 14 Sep 2014 / 2 Comments. Tenun vest that I wore at the photo shoot. It is the classic traditional woven textile from Flores, Nusa Tenggara Timur. I consider this a classic because the colour is NTT’s classic, earthly maroon. The vest is lined with similar coloured raw silk, making the woven textile to stand out even more. This photo shoot was taken at my office room. What I wore: Tenun Flores, NTT vest by Stephanus Hamy. Raw silk nude blouse by IROO. Ring by Dewi Abdy. Http:/ blo...

Sabine Bolk: Quid Pro Quo: Negotiating Futures
http://www.sabinebolk.nl/2014/05/quid-pro-quo-negotiating-futures.html
Quid Pro Quo: Negotiating Futures. Making ricecarpets at Changing Spaces, Cambridge (UK). I already wanted to make a project inspired by the Corpus Christi procession for a long time now. However at first I didn't want to do something with it in Cambridge. When I was preparing for my stay (googling and reading about nice things to see in Cambridge) I came across the Corpus Christi College. I couldn't find a direct connection with the procession at first, so I put it out of my mind. A postulated future pe...

Just another WordPress.com site. Laquo; All paintings. November 13, 2010. Received these photo’s by Ron Dirven in my mail yesterday. The sunflower looks now like the Indian symbol “Swastika”. In Batik Simbut this symbol looks more like a sun with more “arms” like the sunflower in the pictures. It symbolize the turning sun, and with that, the cycle of life. Starting tomorrow with my next virtual residence stay, this is a nice and symbolic ending of my first period at the Van Gogh caravan! Flower of the Sun.

Hill of beans, sowing the seeds. The beans are already reaching for the skies. So time for an update here. My previous post ' Hill of beans, project at De Kapeltuin. Shows the empty plot for my 'Hill of beans' project from 1 February till 24 April 2015. This post shows the preparation for sowing the seeds and waiting for the seeds to finally show their leaves from 8 till 22 May. I found out great things and with every new find, my project grew. What a perfect expression, but what does it mean. The belief...

Into The Great Wide Open. Op woensdag 4 juni ben ik aangekondigd als onderdeel van het Kunstprogramma tijdens het festival Into The Great Wide Ope.

Just another WordPress.com site. Flower of the Sun. November 24, 2010. Reading the report of the project I did with Susan van Uden in the last year of high school I was really suprised about how grown-up we sounded. It’s a lot of information and I share it all with you! For our presentation we dressed ourselves matching to the project. Traditional versus Now/Manga. I could only find this picture of me, I hope I’ll find the one of us together soon! Or leave a trackback: Trackback URL. I just love Hokusai!

Sabine Bolk: Rangoli carpet at Reclaim the seeds
http://www.sabinebolk.nl/2015/05/rangoli-carpet-at-reclaim-seeds.html
Rangoli carpet at Reclaim the seeds. On the 28 of February 2015 I made a little temporary carpet at Reclaim the Seeds. This seed exchange and protest in one was held in Driebergen (NL). In a little parade of minds alike, I arrived at the locations which was gorgeous. I made my little carpet in the Cityplot. In Breda (NL) and really got a lot of inspiration from it. Tomorrow, Thursday 14 May 2015, I'm going to plant my selection of beans at De Kapeltuin. Reclaim the Seeds at Driebergen. Article in Dutch "...
