Raising a Special Needs Child. This is Derek & Monet. The Fabulous Life of Derek and Monet. August 26, 2009 · Filed under Uncategorized. So I haven’t joined in the Madhouse in a long while…life happens. Today’s topic was on High School Rank’s and such but I figured I am pretty steamed and even disillusioned by the public school system when it comes to Derek and it really did fit. How wrong I was! I asked repeatedly for an FM system and let myself be talked out of it, then I heard what an FM system can do...

This is the life ...: What I saw today ...
http://our-silly-magpie.blogspot.com/2013/07/what-i-saw-today.html
Tuesday, July 2, 2013. What I saw today . Ha ha - this is a shot from today's exercise time . and it's not a walk! I decided to sleep in, and I didn't want to be walking in the heat, so I rode our stationary bike while watching Rick Steves' Europe, one of my favorite travel shows. While Rick was walking the stairs up the dome of St. Paul's Cathedral, my legs were burning too! Here's a screen shot of the time I rode. I rode for as long as I walk, but I think I was sweating a lot more! Long time, no post.

Thursday, April 7, 2011. Planning for the future. Here, in no particular order, are the things Maggie thinks she'll need in order to achieve her career goals:. Three drinking cups - one red, one blue, and one red. Shots and a finger "pricker". Labels: all in a days work. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Welcome to our family's blog! We hope you'll enjoy hearing about the day-to-day antics of Maggie - life with a 6-year-old is so much fun! Well, most of the time.). That myth is more potent than history.
This is the life ...: Back in the saddle ...
http://our-silly-magpie.blogspot.com/2013/07/back-in-saddle.html
Tuesday, July 9, 2013. Back in the saddle . So it's been a few days - hard to get back in the swing of things after being on vacation, then having an atypical holiday week. And yes I know those are flimsy excuses. I'm choosing to focus on the fact that although I did not want to get up early today and walk, I did it. Yesterday, Bobby got up and walked. I'm a fairly light sleeper and usually hear his alarm go off, or him getting dressed, or something. That wakes me up. Yesterday . nothing! I believe that ...
This is the life ...: The play's the thing ...
http://our-silly-magpie.blogspot.com/2011/03/plays-thing.html
Wednesday, March 30, 2011. The play's the thing . Here are some photos from Monday night's dress rehearsal:. The three pigs, plus Mama Pig, before the show. Mama Pig tells her three daughters that they must move out. They look surprisingly happy, having just been kicked out of their home! Maggie extols the virtues of a brick house:. I want my house to be strong and sturdy. Straw is too flimsy and sticks are too dirty.". Other scenes from the play. The twist at the end? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
This is the life ...: Don't blink
http://our-silly-magpie.blogspot.com/2009/10/dont-blink.html
Monday, October 19, 2009. Oh, my precious girl. It's got to be one of the biggest cliches ever, and I probably heard it 100 times when I was pregnant with you:. I said last year. That four seemed like a momentous age, an age when you stepped definitively into the ranks of little-girlhood. So I'm not sure where five leaves you. (Or me.) All I know is that it too seems momentous, important . older. Will all birthdays feel like this? One Day I became a mother. And One Day you turned five. Getting caught up ...
This is the life ...: Old favorites ...
http://our-silly-magpie.blogspot.com/2008/03/old-favorites.html
Thursday, March 6, 2008. I don't get to do much writing these days, so here are a couple of old pieces (taken from Maggie's other website) that I liked and wanted to be sure to include here. Motherhood, from June 2006:. Back around Mother's Day, a friend who's pregnant emailed me, asking what my favorite part of motherhood was. Until then, I hadn't really tried to put into words how I feel about this incredible journey I'm on. So, in a nutshell, here are my feelings about motherhood:. GP: No, just use wh...

This is the life ...: Reflections on a juicebox
http://our-silly-magpie.blogspot.com/2008/04/reflections-on-juicebox.html
Thursday, April 10, 2008. Reflections on a juicebox. So this morning, I decided to stop for coffee on my way to "work." I'm sitting in the drive-thru when I glance down and see an empty purple juicebox in my front cupholder. Well there's another thing I need to clean up. I thought. Then I look over my shoulder into the back seat. No carseat. I momentarily freeze as my mind compares these two things - the presence of the juicebox and the absence of the carseat - and what each represents. In my other life,.

Monday, December 12, 2011. Why I Love Maggie's School, reason #976. Maggie is in an after-school art class, and after last week's class I found myself having the following conversation with her:. Is Santa real, or is it just the parents who put the gifts under the tree? Because Maddi Gribbs said it's just the parents, and she's a. I think she would know.". Mommy, cursing under breath for promising to tell the truth whenever asked. Well, what do you think? I just don't know.". She told me later that she s...

Website of poet Derek Mong. Two Poems on the Sun: The Kenyon Review & Lindenwood Review. Years ago, my friend and fellow poet, Alexa Forrester, offered up one of the coolest lines I’ve yet heard from a small child: “Mom, when the earth flies into the sun it will be morning every day.” The source was her son, Cameron. I couldn’t help but take that sentiment and spin it into a [.]. That Time I Wrote a 300-Line Seduction of a Desert Saint. It took a few years, but I eventually finished (and published! Annie...
