THE MOST SOCIABLE YACHT RALLY. It was in late 2003 that I sailed to Morocco from Gibraltar for the first time. I was in Marina Smir, Morocco's newest marina, on that country's Mediterranean coast. I saw a large beautiful modern marina - with very few boats in it! I put it in the back of my mind, along with all the rubbish I have stored there. It popped into my mind that I should try and interest people in a fun rally to Marina Smir. And so the Gibraltar - Morocco Yacht Rally started. Nine boats took part.
