Desert Survivor: Desert Survivor's Get-Out-And-Camp Challenge
http://desertsurvivor.blogspot.com/2014/03/desert-survivors-get-out-and-camp.html
Exploring the desert and what it takes for plants, animals, and people to survive (with a touch of humor). Friday, March 21, 2014. Desert Survivor's Get-Out-And-Camp Challenge. I've mentioned before that I didn't camp much as a kid, just at Girl Scout Camp. But that was enough to entice me to camp more, and over the years I've spent many nights out on the ground. Last year I decided to set a little challenge for myself: Could the kids and I camp out ten nights? Again, but this year up our nights to twelve.
Desert Survivor: Family Hike up South Fork Baker Creek
http://desertsurvivor.blogspot.com/2015/07/family-hike-up-south-fork-baker-creek.html
Exploring the desert and what it takes for plants, animals, and people to survive (with a touch of humor). Friday, July 17, 2015. Family Hike up South Fork Baker Creek. The crying seemed contagious. But we gathered up our strength and set off, and before long were seeing neat things, like this woodpecker, a yellow-bellied sapsucker. This swallowtail was visiting the columbine as we walked under the aspens. Desert Girl was a little tired, but we bribed her and cajoled her, and she kept going. We crested t...
Desert Survivor: May 2015
http://desertsurvivor.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Exploring the desert and what it takes for plants, animals, and people to survive (with a touch of humor). Sunday, May 31, 2015. The other day as we were driving I noticed these two little pronghorn. They were so cute. Pronghorn mate in the fall, and every spring we see little ones around (if we're lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time). Eventually they ran off. I bet the next time we see them the young will look appreciably larger. Wednesday, May 27, 2015. And then the wheelbarrow race.

Exploring the desert and what it takes for plants, animals, and people to survive (with a touch of humor). Sunday, May 5, 2013. Spring Wildflowers in Pole Canyon, Great Basin National Park. Right off I started having fun photographing so many wildflowers! Here are most of the ones that are out, along with a link to a more detailed description on A Plant a Day. A blog I started years ago but rarely update due to time constraints. Tiny, tiny flowers: slender phlox (Microsteris gracilis). Isaac liked riding...

The Baker Half Dozen: February 2015
http://thebakerhalfdozen.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 23, 2015. February 15th was Maurice Glendenning's birthday and we usually have a musical celebration at church somewhere near his birthday. Bro Doug has been accompanying many musicians for many years! Dad has played the trombone for many years also. Both of his parents could play it and now Caleb does also. Kiah put this group together. They didn't get a lot of practice time with everyone going different directions but they still sounded great. Clara is big too! Links to this post.

This blog reports events and interesting tidbits from Rensselaer, Indiana and the surrounding area. Wednesday, December 31, 2014. A visit to FOF (part 3 of 3). After checking out the convention center wing of the Farmhouse, it was time to return to the Restaurant and order dinner. The decor is fun. Below you can see one of the chandeliers. From the Chef's Dining Room one can get a very good view of the most of the kitchen. The area closest is a cold line that prepares salads and desserts. The man...Walki...
Eurastus travels slowly: Took the Long Way To Work
http://eurastus.blogspot.com/2009/03/took-long-way-to-work.html
Friday, March 13, 2009. Took the Long Way To Work. I took the long way to work this morning, with a little swing out on the farmland flats to the west of town. Today it was a balmy 27° and felt fine. It sure was nice to enjoy the early morning farm roads. Early mornings are awesome, for sure. I spent a bit of time on the single cylinder 650. It felt sort of like a tractor engine under me. How is the twin for smooth? Anything you especially love? Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 9:45:00 PM MDT.
Eurastus travels slowly: Airguns
http://eurastus.blogspot.com/2009/03/airguns.html
Thursday, March 12, 2009. Airgun shooting is a subject near and dear to my heart. I shoot airguns many evenings in my basement (6 meter range) or out in the garage (full 10 meters), sometimes with my boys. In fact, I just got done with shooting 120 shots from my air pistol (FWB 103) on the 10 meter range. What if you want to get into air rifle target shooting with a budget? If you want information from the experts themselves, get yourself to the TargetTalk forum at http:/ targettalk.org/. Having said all...
Eurastus travels slowly: da Vinci Tandems
http://eurastus.blogspot.com/2007/08/da-vinci-tandems.html
Friday, August 17, 2007. I've been a serious cyclist for about 30 years now, with most of my miles on the road but significant mountain bike time several years ago. Up until a few years ago, I'd only ridden a tandem bicycle a few times; being a paid bike wrench for over 10 years as a youth gave me several opportunities. Only one ride was for more than 20 miles.and that was more than 25 years ago. And the gear range is absolutely HUGE! However, I prefer the 700c wheels we have on the latest tandem. Th...

Desert Survivor
Exploring the desert and what it takes for plants, animals, and people to survive (with a touch of humor). Thursday, March 15, 2018. So back in February we got a good snowstorm. We headed up to Too Tall Tony hill to go sledding with friends. It's a short but steep hill. Then we decided to go up to Upper Lehman Campground to see what sledding would be like there. The huge ponderosa pines were so beautiful! This sledding hill is down the road. It's slower going but they can have some long runs. We enjoyed ...
