Jayne's Yoga Blog: Harmony
http://desertyogatherapy.blogspot.com/2015/06/harmony.html
Saturday, June 20, 2015. The intention of the International Day of Yoga is to promote harmony, a simple and accessible way to physical health, spiritual health and well-being. It promotes respect for fellow human beings and for the planet in a way that does not discriminate. More can be found here on the United Nations web site. So how does it work? How do we bring ourselves into balance? Eating whole, fresh foods. Moving in a variety of ways every day and at varying intensities. Self-care is vital for i...

Jayne's Yoga Blog: June 2015

Saturday, June 27, 2015. I met a new student the other day and asked if she had practiced yoga before. She replied, "yes, but I can't do what I used to do" to which I replied, "neither can I! It is taught that if we can see each moment for exactly what it is and find a sense of ease within that moment, we can learn to be at ease with all that is in transition. A simple practice is to watch the breath and notice how it shifts. What thoughts are floating about in your sphere of consciousness? Next, exhale ...

Jayne's Yoga Blog: October 2014
http://desertyogatherapy.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 26, 2014. When I taught I would look out into the crowd and only truly notice if someone wasn't keeping up or getting it when they were out of sync with the rest of the group. At times you'd see people flailing in the back with a "huh? Expression and hope that the group energy would help them get through it. Often we all did look like a flock of seagulls as we worked various floor patterns across the gym. It was fun and it improved my teaching skills immensely. Saturday, October 18, 2014.

Jayne's Yoga Blog: The Big Picture
http://desertyogatherapy.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-big-picture.html
Saturday, August 1, 2015. Part of our yoga and meditation practice is to become a witness to our own experience. It truly is something we need to practice as this doesn't come easily to most of us, the ability to actually take a step back, to pause and notice things simply as they are. To quote Jack Kornfield:. When we let go of our battles and open our heart to things as they are, then we come to rest in the present moment. This is the beginning and the end of spiritual practice.".

Jayne's Yoga Blog: November 2014
http://desertyogatherapy.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 30, 2014. The holiday season has officially arrived. Here in the US, we have just celebrated Thanksgiving which then opens the floodgates to the many celebrations held in December. It's a time where we tend to socialize, eat and drink as well as spend more cash than usual. We arrive at New Years Day wondering what hit us and how did it seem to spin out of control? When the credit card bill arrives mid-January did we go beyond our limits? How about your own personal physical limits? Then ...

Saturday, May 30, 2015. Connect To The Whole. We break it down to understand the bigger picture, the whole being, the whole body, the whole system of yoga and its multitude of aspects. One of the criticisms with modern medicine is that parts of it are so specialized, the specialists tend to only work with a small area of the body. As patients we hop from specialist to specialist for our various ailments but who's quarterbacking the overall picture? What is flowing out of you? If not, why not? The images ...

Jayne's Yoga Blog: April 2015
http://desertyogatherapy.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 18, 2015. We're In This Together. The lesson and thought for the week is to allow ourselves to be held by others. The strength of our like-minded networks goes beyond the obvious and into the sublime energy that we exchange with each other. Add into that groups such as a regular yoga class, people who move, breath and share a transformational practice, it seems like a wise choice to hang out with them. Saturday, April 11, 2015. Although we express as individual souls, we are each projecti...
