Approx. 14 x 18 x 6 in. Pieces: approx 1 x 1 x 2 in. SLS Nylon (3D print). This piece is composed of multiple copies of 6 modular units interconnected to create a cascading organic form. Initially intended to create a wearable necklace, the modules have also been used to create other body adornments, such as bracelets and crowns, as well as wall-hanging and free-standing sculptures. Collaboration with Phil Renato.

Richard Elaver is a designer and metalsmith working in the overlapping spheres of art, design, and technology. In his work, Elaver integrates the tools of industrial design with the craft of metalsmithing. He develops computer simulations of biological phenomena, and uses them to create design objects.

Dimensions vary with assembly. Pieces: approx. 1 x 2 x 1.5 in. SLS Nylon (3D print) and urethane tubing. Current work-in-progress based on the branching structures of trees and capillaries. Using four modular elements connected by varying diameters of urethane tubing, the structure creates a fluid complexity.

SLS nylon (3D print). 35in x 9/16in Dia. 3D printed pen, made from durable nylon. The hollow design, composed of overlapping helix patterns, creates a lightweight structure with a comfortable grip. Has a replaceable Fisher SpacePen insert, developed for NASA, and able to write under water, upside down, or in space.

Individual units are assembled to create wearable forms, installation works, or free-standing sculptures. Like a set of organic Lego’s, the final form is created by the user assembling the parts. Collaboration with Dennis Dollens.
