Designing Exhibitions: april 2009

http://designingexhibitions.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Working towards an interactive exhibit for the Vermeer center Delft. Maandag 6 april 2009. Meet the master of light. Its hard to see thanks to my really cool, but slightly bad usb-stick camera, but here's my official badge of the Vermeer center. Looking at the badge this morning I found it alread. Tricky in the least, as Vermeer left us only 36 paintings to date (unless this. Wn all buildings that had anything to do with him in the centuries after his death. The Vermeer center doesn't have any real paint...

Designing Exhibitions: bezoekers en techniek/ visitors and technology

http://designingexhibitions.blogspot.com/2009/03/bezoekers-en-techniek-visitors-and.html

Working towards an interactive exhibit for the Vermeer center Delft. Donderdag 19 maart 2009. Bezoekers en techniek/ visitors and technology. Op een blog over inzichten van museumbezoekers. een voorbeeld misschien dat musea niet altijd naar techniek moeten om aantrekkelijk te blijven? On a blog on museum audience insights. an example perhaps museums should not be too fond of technology when trying to stay attractive to visitors? Labels: techniek in musea. 19 maart 2009 08:19. Designing Exhibitions: na drie dagen/ 3 days work

http://designingexhibitions.blogspot.com/2009/03/na-drie-dagen.html

Working towards an interactive exhibit for the Vermeer center Delft. Donderdag 19 maart 2009. Na drie dagen/ 3 days work.

Designing Exhibitions: juli 2009

http://designingexhibitions.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Working towards an interactive exhibit for the Vermeer center Delft. Vrijdag 10 juli 2009. I know I have been neglecting this blog for a long time. Apparently keeping up a blog is more difficult than I thought. Not so much 2.0 after all even though my twitter is doing fine. For those of you still reading and perhaps to give it a new impulse for the final stages of my project; an update! People whisper in museums and don't take paintings of the wall for closer inspection. An abstract truth behind it:.

Symposium Research: February 2009

http://organizemyresearch.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 24, 2009. For my job, I was asked to compile a benchmark report on developments within the field of interaction design related to sustainability. Thus, I started this blog in order to keep my notes and findings organized, to structure my thoughts, and to motivate me to get things down on "paper". Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Symposium Research: March 2009

http://organizemyresearch.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 31, 2009. I am organizing a workshop with John Ehrenfeld, big man of Industrial Ecology. And author of Sustainability by Design. For our research program (Sustainable Living and working). His book can be seen lying on any given desk at the university and everyone is running around chanting the mantra, "having not being.having not being." He is visiting for a week from the States and will also be giving one of the top 10 lectures for our 40th Jubilee. Monday, March 30, 2009. He, himself is ...

Symposium Research: Biomimicry

http://organizemyresearch.blogspot.com/2009/07/biomimicry.html

Tuesday, July 21, 2009. I finally finished reading Biomimicry. By Jean Benyus. I had a hard time getting through some of the denser chapters, i.e. computing, and had to think back to biology courses I took in my bachelors, but it was worth the effort. Even though the book was first published in 1997, almost everything written is still important/relevant in today's context. I am looking forward to her next book. Check out her TED talk. Read an excerpt here. Hot, Flat and Crowded by Thomas Friedman.

Symposium Research: Workshop with Prof. John Ehrenfeld

http://organizemyresearch.blogspot.com/2009/04/workshop-with-prof-john-ehrenfeld.html

Sunday, April 26, 2009. Workshop with Prof. John Ehrenfeld. As I mentioned earlier,. I organized a workshop with our workgroup, sustainable living and working. I thought the workshop yielded pretty nice results, especially during the mind mapping session. The group was a mix of people both familiar and unfamiliar with the ideas presented in Sustainability by Design. 1 Introduction Prof. John Ehrenfeld. 1 Introduction Prof. John Ehrenfeld. Symposium Research: Contextmapping Symposium

http://organizemyresearch.blogspot.com/2009/05/contextmapping-symposium.html

Thursday, May 14, 2009. Was held yesterday in celebration of 5 years of contextmapping and the graduation of the first PhD ever in the field. The program lineup consisted of two talks by Liz Sanders (Make Tools) and by Jacob Burr (U. Southern Denmark) and ten Pecha Kucha style talks by recent graduates deploying contextmapping techniques in practice. Below is a short summary of "the highlights" of the lectures (in my opinion). The lectures should become available online at some point on collegarama.

Symposium Research: Sustainability in HCI, Ubicomp, etc.

http://organizemyresearch.blogspot.com/2009/04/sustainability-in-hci-ubicomp-etc.html

Wednesday, April 1, 2009. Sustainability in HCI, Ubicomp, etc. I made a quick survey of several HCI and Ubicomp papers in order to summarize the main topics and research questions, regarding sustainability, that have been considered the most important in the interaction design community. In an alternate organizational scheme. Where sustainability is considered as a part of material design process (use, re-use, reduction, and recycling). Ie how can we move away from a model of obsolescence in the IT field?

Symposium Research: Scavenger-innovator

http://organizemyresearch.blogspot.com/2009/04/scavenger-innovator.html

Wednesday, April 1, 2009. Sent me a link to an article. On John Thackara’s Doors of Perception blog. The article was about how design practice and education has to undergo a paradigm shift, and three steps to achieve this. Although I did not totally agree with his three steps (especially not the affirmation that new language is needed – why is there always so much emphasis on semantics? One quote I found very inspiring and relevant was:. Offer them your scavenger-innovator. Biomimicry - Janine Benyus.
