Friday, January 14, 2011. 17 and 18. Conquer a Black Diamond and ski at night. Nice and easy. Nightmare ends with a blue trail, nice way to finish my first black diamond. When I reached the end I was actually laughing and Erich gave me. When we got home I announced to my daughter that not only had I skied a black diamond, but it was a double black diamond. Monday, November 22, 2010. 12 Hike the AT. I love the forest. The Appalachian Trail hugs the Appalachian Mountains and runs from Springer Mountain, Georgia to Mt. Kathadin, Maine. It goes through 14 states and is over 2,000 miles long. Most people hike a section of it at a time. Some hike the entire thing straight through. There are designated camping areas along the Appalachian Trail and it is maintained mostly by volunteers. It is high time I got on it. AT trail marker symbol. 13 Log Cabin Inn.

On Route 46 across the street from a stretch of the Delaware River is a small, red cabin called the Log Cabin Inn. For years, on our way to Shawnee to ski, my family would pass this cute little restaurant. Each trip, going and coming, I would either say aloud or think to myself, "We should stop there." Finally we did. 12 Hike the AT. I love the forest.

Monday, September 27, 2010. 8 Moonrise Kayaking 8/23/20. It is so black on the water. We reach the cove. And it is. I paddle hard to get back out into the water. Unbelievably there is a stone bar hidden in the dark. It is a long stretch of stones that have been slowly surfacing due to the drought. Some of us get caught up on that and have to maneuver to get across. And they yell back, "Carpe Noctis! PS Thanks to my friend Susan for taking the pictures. Monday, September 20, 2010.
