The Devon General Omnibus and Touring Company was formed in 1919 and soon became associated with the Great Western Railway before being acquired by the British Electric Traction Company (BET) in 1931. Its colourful cherry-red and ivory buses continued to serve South Devon for many years and became an essential part of many holiday-makers' visits to Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, Exmouth & Sidmouth before the age of mass car ownership.
