Project Devon Yawl: April 2013
http://projectdevonyawl.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
A project to renovate Devon Yawl 171. Tuesday, 23 April 2013. Last season a few temporary measures were put in place in order to get DY171 sailing. The use of a cheap lifting engine bracket whilst the original uni parts bracket was being refurbished is one such measure. We also did not use a furler on the genoa as our rig design did not initially include this. I look forward to hitting the Exe soon, lets hope it all works as expected. Labels: Devon yawl engine bracket and furler. Saturday, 20 April 2013.

Project Devon Yawl: May 2013
http://projectdevonyawl.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
A project to renovate Devon Yawl 171. Saturday, 18 May 2013. Making the most of May sunshine and wind. We have just got back from a great sail on the Exe, all new bits and bobs seem to be working as intended. We sailed from Topsham to Exmouth beach stopping briefly at Starcross YC for some lunch on the way back. On our way down river we caught the Merlin Rockets sailing from Starcross at their open meeting, perfect weather for such an event, force 4 and beautiful sunshine (is this really the UK). I sail,...

Project Devon Yawl: This puts my renovation efforts to shame!

A project to renovate Devon Yawl 171. Thursday, 16 May 2013. This puts my renovation efforts to shame! Earlier this year Vigilant (a Thames Barge) was beached at Topsham Quay and is undergoing a full revamp which looks like most of the hull is being replaced. The local BBC news did a report on her story here. Location: Topsham, Devon, UK. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Making the most of May sunshine and wind. This puts my renovation efforts to shame! Spring has sprung, I have video evidence!

A project to renovate Devon Yawl 171. Thursday, 20 June 2013. Exe Regatta and MUVI Micro video camera test. Work prevented us taking the Yawl to the national championships a fortnight ago, however we did get out on the water for the exe regatta the following week (which was a windy one). Yawls getting ready for a windy saturday at the Exe Regatta. Sunday, 2 June 2013. Pesky Birds and Round the Island Race 2013. I have been spoiled for sailing over the past few weeks. Project Devon Yawl: September 2012
http://projectdevonyawl.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
A project to renovate Devon Yawl 171. Tuesday, 11 September 2012. Fly away pole sorted! Last weekend I made some changes to the fly away pole system, and now it works like a dream! The photos I've added show the new system, the main difference is in the elastic. I have beefed up the diameter of the pole take up elastic which now holds the pole next to the sheath where it exits the mast when not under load. This keeps the pole well above the deck and stops it hitting the fore-deck on launch. Which is a bl...
