Hormones and Handbags: May 2006
http://hormonesandhandbags.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
Because I seem to have too many of one and never enough of the other. May 04, 2006. Move along. Nothing to see here. No really. There isn't. I have absolutely nothing to post. I have no pets or children with which to regale you with cute anecdotes and post Hallmark-like photos. You know sometimes when you think you see something out of the corner of your eye, but when you turn there's nothing there? Having said that, I am going to a wedding reception tomorrow night. Please can you join me in sending ...

Makes a girl think: February 2007
http://makesagirlthink.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html
Makes a girl think. I have less time than money, and I am a poverty stricken Post Graduate student. Tuesday, February 20, 2007. Don't push me, I am not okay. Today has not been good. In fact, it can be classified as bad, very bad. I was told, today, I have one week to prepare for a funding deadline I had previously been told and misled to believe was two months away. It was only because i asked the right person very direct questions that I was told at all. To tell me but. I won't be blogging for a while ...

Adventures in engineering: March 2006

Friday, March 31, 2006. Home of the brave? It may be the land of the free, but it certainly isn't free to enter. Perhaps because of its perceived desirability to immigrants, who think the country will provide a better standard of living than anywhere else, the entry requirements to the USA are (dare I say it? Ludicrously onerous. I've heard stories of people being deported as soon as they arrived in the States because of previously overstaying their visa. Of course there was the story about. I bought my ...

新疆日記: Day 185: Episode 5

Sunday, 24 February 2008. Day 185: Episode 5. DAY 17 - QUFU = YANZHOU = JINING = ZHENGZHOU. DAY 18 - ZHENGZHOU = LUOYANG. And talk about us, justifying it with "they don't understand." Well actually, we do. SO we tell them. After two hours and the loss of feeling in one arm, we finally arrived, which was a huge relief. I've never been so close with strangers. We've also recently learnt that young children in China like firecrackers even more than teenagers in the UK like fireworks and vodka. Lovely.

Adventures in engineering: June 2006

Wednesday, June 21, 2006. The spirit of something moving. I've been downloading a fair bit of music lately from iTunes. With downloaded classical music, one does miss the sleeve notes generally provided even in cheap discs, but there is quite a variety of music available, and probably more elsewhere that I haven't got round to looking at yet. One of the tracks I've recently bought is Elgar's ". The Spirit of the Lord. An anthem from his oratorio,. The Dream of Gerontius. Having been overcome by the sight...

Adventures in engineering: November 2005

Tuesday, November 22, 2005. Anton Bruckner Choir concert. Recently, it would be fascinating to be able to go back in time just to see how different London was before the Great Fire. The concert began with three unaccompanied motets by Bruckner:. These were beautifully and sensitively sung, particularly. Which because of its brevity and relative simplicity, can sometimes sound routine, the singers knowing it almost by heart. Certain moments in. The main work, Brahms'. Posted by Tamburlaine @ 6:20 pm.
