The teen room reveal. This is almost the before. we had some of the extra furniture from all over the house in here at the time we took these pictures, and only the bed and book shelves (not pictured) stayed in the room. The room was pretty bare, with drab, dirty pink walls, ugly everything. We already had a foam mattress top, so we found a used twin bed on craigslist for $20. We special ordered some drawer pulls for the dresser to complete the look. (Okay, we attached the two easy ones, but got lazy...

I want to be a general contractor in my third career. So, I have been obsessing over the right path to take with our fireplace for months. It's really out of place in the room now that the floors and paint have transformed the style. And frankly, the genius who put in the top shelf was like. dang, these window seals are in my way. I finally got around to looking at the rest of our pictures from our NY trip with Melanie and Ethan. I wanted to share some highlights with you! Here is Viola showing Ethan how to plank on vacation, of course. All the kids really. Loved riding on the subway. This time around, we were smart enough to really plan our routes around the city to avoid frustration on which train to take and how. It made it fun for the adults to ride the subway, too. Home in 3 days. Man, does it make a huge difference down there. the photo grid shows various stages to complete. But, again. Oh man does it look much better already. First, we had to get rid of that hideous brick. We were thinking that we could just take out the sides and put a new face on it with a different width profile. But, wait. Without the sides, it doesn't stand up. Okay, we'll just take the whole thing out to rebuild the profile. So cute. behind that little fireplace box there is a big awesome looking fireplace with an arched top. Let's just take this little one out and use that awesome big one. It looks way cooler. And now we have a gaping hole in our house?
