The Sugar

Tuesday, July 7, 2009. I figured berry season was the perfect time to join in all the canning fun. I wanted to use local fresh fruit and as little sugar as possible so I could enjoy my jam without hesitation. I also added a twist to a plain raspberry jam by adding a significant citrus kick with lime juice and the powerful zest. I had lots of traditional pectin around my house, but grabbed a box of Pomona's Universal Pectin. 4 cups ripe red raspberries. 2 tablespoons lime juice. Zest of one lime. Each 2 T...

If you or a luv'd one has DY-UH-BEATUS. I feel like a failure. Great way to start out a blog post, right? I just feel lost at the moment. But here are some updates, bullet point style! Failed out of nursing school due to working too much and poor diabetes management. During all of this fell in love with an amazing man, Matt. He is divorced with two kids from his ex-wife and another as an unplanned, non-discussed pregnancy. It is far less stressful than nursing. I have given many hugs to people whose ...

The Diabetic Bat

My journey through Type 2 Diabetes. Come along for the ride. Friday, March 25, 2011. Doctor, Doctor, Doctor HOOOOOOOOOOO! I had a doctor's appointment today. Apparently he wanted to discuss my blood test. He was not happy. My LDL went up, my total cholesterol went up, my A1c went up from the last time I saw him, and he seems generally unhappy that I'm not in the range to where the 'purists' think I should be. Doc is only seeing what's on the blood test. Labels: Tao of Bat. Tuesday, February 22, 2011.
