Idealists foolish enough to throw caution to the winds have advanced mankind and have enriched the world." -Emma Goldman. Tuesday, August 20, 2013. A week in the life of a MS4, edition 2 (August 19 - 25). Rough Very rough. Lots of tears from patients and nearly some from me too. Got feedback on how I've been doing on the rotation. Mostly good, some not so good. Ate a bowl of cereal for dinner as there was no energy for anything else. After what may seem like kavetching. Links to this post. I love my job.

Idealists foolish enough to throw caution to the winds have advanced mankind and have enriched the world." -Emma Goldman. Sunday, June 16, 2013. Last month, after reading Julia Levy's article. Really though, I'm scared of turning 30 single. I'm even more scared of starting residency single. What if I end up in a place without queer Jews to date? When will I have time to meet people in residency? What if I meet someone living elsewhere, and neither of us can move until residency is over? Anyhow, I digress.

Idealists foolish enough to throw caution to the winds have advanced mankind and have enriched the world." -Emma Goldman. Saturday, May 17, 2014. I was called to the stage as Dr. Physician Activist in Training. A trusted mentor placed the green velvet hood over my head. I took an oath [that was thankfully not the traditional Hippocratic Oath]. There were hugs, pictures, and toasts. And scene. Next up, the real fun begins. Residency. Bring it on. Posted by physician activist in training. My budget is curr...

Idealists foolish enough to throw caution to the winds have advanced mankind and have enriched the world." -Emma Goldman. Tuesday, October 22, 2013. Before I submitted my application, I found myself saying "I'll feel better when I have my first interview" to which a friend replied "Nope, you'll just keep wanting more". She's right. One interview invite, or two, or three, is nowhere near enough. It is never enough. Maybe tomorrow will bring another invite or two? Posted by physician activist in training.

Idealists foolish enough to throw caution to the winds have advanced mankind and have enriched the world." -Emma Goldman. Sunday, September 22, 2013. 6 months ago I was just starting to accept the newness of a breakup from the woman I hoped to marry. Today I am still struggling to heal, but the edges aren't as ragged as they were. 6 months from now (2 days ago to be exact) I will match into a residency program. Anxiously waiting for interview invites, and continuing to grow increasingly anxious every day.

Postcards from Outer Space. Musings of an expatriate Californian on East Coast life, politics, religion, and the world…not necessarily in that order! Tuesday, July 23, 2013. Why babies are cute. A nurse who cared for my baby sister used to say, “G-d made babies cute so we would be willing to take care of them.” And my mom would respond, “Then G-d made Palomita extra cute, so we’d be willing to take extra care of her.”. Luckily it seems that twins come with that dose of extra cuteness too. It gets better ...

Postcards from Outer Space. Musings of an expatriate Californian on East Coast life, politics, religion, and the world…not necessarily in that order! Tuesday, March 6, 2012. Holy Primaries, Batman! I know, I know. I should be over the vagaries of the MA electoral system by now. I mean, what do I have to be nostalgic about anyways? This week has been doing a series called "Top Secret America". Also, on a related note, I'm sort of surprised they didn't interview (or quote, anyhow) Steven Aftergood at FAS. For this study. If you're interested in the topic you should definitely be reading his blog, Secrecy News. Wednesday, July 14, 2010.
Weekend (Biking) Update | Free as a Berde

Free as a Berde. 8230; a blog by a Berde in the Bay Area. Long Weekend →. April 29, 2015. It was another eventful weekend of exploring San Francisco (and its surrounding areas) on two wheels. We pedaled fewer miles than previous weekend rides but had a ton of fun, despite making a few poor decisions along the way. People lined both sides of the streets, cheering on the runners about to finish this race — and here we are, two crazy chicks on bikes riding in the middle of all these runners. Fortu...Our act...

Free as a Berde. 8230; a blog by a Berde in the Bay Area. May 24, 2015. With Randi away this weekend at the Jewish Outdoor Leadership Training. At Camp Tawonga, my parents’ early departure meant that I had today all to myself. It’s my 2nd to last weekend before moving to camp, which means I have a mile-long list of work that I could (should) be doing; today, however, I prioritized the non-work things. Made coffee and breakfast at 4 AM. Drove to and from Oakland airport (45 min each way). Made walnut pest...

Postcards from Outer Space. Musings of an expatriate Californian on East Coast life, politics, religion, and the world…not necessarily in that order! Sunday, October 24, 2010. A friend recently posted a lyric to the recent Shakira. Song, Gitana, on facebook:. Yo soy quien elige como equivocarme.". I am the one who decides how to make (my) mistakes.
