literary interpretation

Wednesday, April 15, 2009. Which texts had the most relevance to me? The "Maus" series was incredible in the way that it told a horrific story, but was readable because of the carefree illustrations. Everyone knows basic facts about the holocaust, but these two stories, told from the survivor's son, was a different perspective and worth contemplating. I don't know that I made personal connections with any of the texts. That's not to say that I couldn't appreciate the stories, but most were so dark. I fee...

literary interpretation: February 2009

http://www.diannesczesny.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, February 25, 2009. I will be writing a traditional research paper for this class by default. I love the idea of the multi-genre project, but I don't possess the computer skills to make that happen. I'm exploring the possibility of using Oranges. And Blankets as my text, and discussing how religion can play a roll in the "coming of age" process. I'll be investigating how one's religion can positively and/or negatively affect a person during their journey to adulthood and beyond. I especially fi...

literary interpretation: January 2009

http://www.diannesczesny.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 28, 2009. My initial impression of Yang's book American Born Chinese,. Was that it was an interesting story of self-acceptance with underlying themes of Chinese stereotypes and racial identity. Since I am not familiar with reading graphic novels, it was not an easy experience. Having to slow down and study the frames became enjoyable by the end of the book, but was frustrating at first. literary interpretation: graphic novel - Romeo and Juliet

http://www.diannesczesny.blogspot.com/2009/04/graphic-novel-romeo-and-juliet.html

Monday, April 6, 2009. Graphic novel - Romeo and Juliet. I've chosen "No Fear Shakespeare" to explore the Romeo and Juliet story.  Page 43 details the meeting of the two young lovers at a masquerade ball.  The illustrations are black, white and gray and the characters are drawn as homely people, not beautiful as one would envision teens in love. literary interpretation: March 2009

Wednesday, March 18, 2009. I will be using the above quote to give another perspective to Thompson's  perceived lack of support from his church for his artistic endeavors.  I would like to show that, while he certainly encountered people who were obstacles to his creativity, they don't necessarily represent the church, and  certainly not God Himself, the ultimate creator. . I think "Blankets" did a great job of showing the negative outcomes of feeling oppressed by religion, but it is certainly not the wh...

Roses and Literature: Class Evaluation: 2

http://english1100-emily.blogspot.com/2009/04/class-evaluation-2.html

Wednesday, April 15, 2009. At the beginning of the semester I definitely remember not being a fan of graphic novels whatsoever; and i can say that only reading Shakespeare in a graphic novel format still made me kind of not enjoy reading graphic novels. But honestly, I have never enjoyed reading Shakespeare.but after this class, i think my opinions towards shakespeares works are starting to change into a more positive nature. Anyways! Thinking in Pink: Reflection

Wednesday, April 15, 2009. The main impact that the literature that we have read has had on me is that when I am a teacher I will be more open to differnt kinds of texts like comics. Wednesday, January 14, 2009. Right off the bat in this picture I noticed the hay pick. The hay pick is centered in the middle of the picture and it is also a pointed object. I think that it is supposed to symbol the hardships that these people went through because I think of hard work and difficult tasks when i think of it. It isn't exactly like he's holding roses. . Wednesday, February 25, 2009. Ideas for Research Paper. First off, i am very interested in doing my research paper in the style of multigenre. I think it's a very creative way of writing a research paper. Honestly, I'm sick of the traditional way. Plus, I am more of a creative writer.i'll probably have too much fun with this type of paper. Some different topics that i have in mind:. I like the idea that Shannon brought up, Whalt Whitman and the idea of what it means to. By talking about brown eyes. Yeah,...

Andie's Blog: Multimodal Literacy

http://andiezblog-andie.blogspot.com/2009/01/multimodal-literacy.html

Tuesday, January 20, 2009. Multimodalitys are perceived as being difficult. The prefix 'multi-' suggests all kinds of meanings. Everyday experiences are multimodal because we see, we hear, we touch, we smell, and we taste. Our experience of the world comes to us through the multiple modes of communication to which each of our senses is attuned. Multisemiotics describe multiple meanings that are offered by these modes, and many possible understandings that we may be able to make from these modes.

CLICK HERE FOR BLOGGER TEMPLATES. Scholarly responses and reflections to literature. April 13, 2009. Gaiman's retelling of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Is undeniably unique and endearing; however, I didn't enjoy reading it all that much. I thought it was a bit confusing at times. The pages were too cluttered with illustrations and at times it was hard to understand what was happening.
