Diderot's Photo Blog: March 2015
http://diderotsblog.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 13, 2015. These are the only pictures I have from the past month where the snow does not dominate. I had beautiful pictures of the last winter storm. The snow melted so quickly this week that the pictures do not seem relevant. It will rain tonight and tomorrow. I hope it will wash away some of the filth and detritus that the melting snow has uncovered. I would see this tree from the J train in the morning. I love the graceful way it carries its plastic bags. Posted by A. Diderot.

Diderot's Photo Blog: April 2014
http://diderotsblog.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 18, 2014. Spring Snow is always Fun and Light. It is hardly news any more, but it snowed a few days ago ending our spring idyll. The day before, apricot petals were showering down like snowflakes, they were frozen into the table top. The crocuses did not totally wilt, but they have not been opening up as much since the storm. The sun came out. Although it was not warm, things began to thaw. The snow was gone by noon, but the cold remained. The light has not been as pretty since. I am a phot...

Diderot's Photo Blog: August 2014
http://diderotsblog.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 17, 2014. If you go to Union Square East and 14th Street, across the street from the park, there is a label with a qr code. You can scan it with your smart phone and it will bring you to an image that I made of Union Square a few months ago. This is a test run. I would really like to know how the image looks on your phones. I have to scroll to see the image, maybe it needs to be smaller. I would love some feedback on this. Posted by A. Diderot. Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Sunflower about to bloom. Milkweed on the left. This spot used to be shady before the neighbor cut down the tree. Now I may need to move the ferns. Catnip also attracts pollinators. Plants on the patio. Posted by A. Diderot. Nature in the city. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Some of My Street Art. Wish You Were Here. Diderot's Photo Blog: Spring With Red Highlights
http://diderotsblog.blogspot.com/2015/04/spring-with-red-highlights.html
Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Spring With Red Highlights. For a while it felt as if spring would never come. Finally, the trees started flowering, but the weather turned cold. Today seemed like the perfect spring day. The oversized ad featuring Kate Moss did not irritate so much when framed by pear blossoms. Something about the light made the reds pop out. Posted by A. Diderot's Photo Blog: Gardening
http://diderotsblog.blogspot.com/2015/06/gardening.html
Tuesday, June 9, 2015. After a dry spell that lasted for most of May, we finally had a week of cool rainy weather. It started with a long deluge. The trees seemed to dance under the rain. All of the greens became more verdant. I have not been trimming the little patches of grass that I haven't pulled up. They are growing very high. The wisteria has climbed the fence and begun to battle the neighbor's ivy for supremacy. I am going in a new direction with my Urban Demeter. It makes the light warmer. I am a...

Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Light, the Garden, a Gift. Some light coming through the window. I was planning on putting some plants out. The garden is recovering from winter, I am pleased with the spring colors that I have. My current favorite is the allium. I think they are somewhat comic. They do not last very long though. Just over a week and they are losing their flowers. I am curious to see how they look with the green nubby stems. The beloved brought me home a rosebush for Mother's day. Nature in the city.

Diderot's Photo Blog: February 2014
http://diderotsblog.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 13, 2014. We are having a real, snowy winter for the first time in too long. Lots of people are complaining, but I am feeling a little wistful. I wonder if this will be one of the last cold winters. Last week there was a very pretty snow storm. The next day was more snow turning into freezing rain with huge lakes of slush bordering the sidewalks. The slush froze, first turning a lovely sandy texture, then polishing to ice. I went out to photograph bicycles lost in the snow.

Diderot's Photo Blog: January 2015
http://diderotsblog.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Our historic blizzard turned into a nice little bit of snow. It is pretty snow, but perhaps not worth all the craziness or what Pat Kiernan of NY1 called placing "the entire city under house arrest". Still, I was only moderately inconvenienced by the lockdown. I felt bad for people who get paid by the hour especially those who work in the evening. It's so clean, like a waterfall.". At 34th street, the city had totally vanquished the snow as it always does. Nature in the city.

Friday, June 13, 2014. Kara Walker - A Sublety. I went to see Kara Walker's installation in the Domino Sugar refinery. On the web site. It is described as:. An Homage to the unpaid and overworked Artisans who have refined our Sweet tastes from the cane fields to the Kitchens of the New World on the Occasion of the demolition of the Domino Sugar Refining Plant. Some of the boys made out of sugar have already melted, but others are still standing. They leave pools of sugar on the floor. Some of My Street A...
