After I managed to move my ass out of Montañita I went to Baños in the mountains of Ecuador. Its not far away from Montanita but still took me about 12 hours to get there as I had to change busses 3-times. Baños is famous for its waterfalls, hot springs and mountains with tropical vegetation. The landscape was beautiful and the town is very laid back. Cable car" crossing the valley.

South America Trip 2014. Follow my backpacking adventure in South America on this blog! Wednesday, September 3, 2014. Quito and Cotopaxi National Park, Ecuador. Quito, capital of Ecuador and the second last stop on this trip. Nice colonial architecture but in general not a very special city. However there is a lot of stuff to do near Quito. Split by the Equator line. The day after I signed up for a trek to Cotopaxi Volcano (5897m) one of the highest volcanoes in the world. Labels: Cotopaxi National Park.

After the Galapagos Islands I flew back to Guayaquil and hopped directly on a bus to a beach town called Salinas. The main attraction there is the humpback whale watching and it only costs 15 dollars so I gave it a try. Salinas itself is nothing special, its a city build for the rich Ecuadorian people and everything is very expensive so I only stayed for one night. View my complete profile.

Montanita, a lazy surfer town in Ecuador, the perfect place to chill out and relax for a while. Unfortunately the weather was not very good the whole time so I just spend most of the time in the hostel. There were 25 cats and about 5 dogs living in this hostel and I was always surrounded by at least 5 animals which was very nice! They even had a gym! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The air is quiet thin up here and every step you do is exhausting.
