Monday, October 28, 2013. We Don't Need No Stinking Dogs. I didn't get to go no the Slo'Bros ride, which means that, next week, when the three of us are riding,. I'll hear about the 57 people who attended this week. Still, I had a great route planned out for a ride today…. Well, I had most. Of a great route planned out for a ride…. Okay, so I had a piece of a route planned out and I figured I’d wing it after that, which probably explains why I ended up getting lost. So the goal today was 30 miles. The be...

Lunicycle - The Bicycle Blog: November 2013
http://lunicycle.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 1, 2013. This has been a bad week for riding. Or I’ve been slack. One or the other, but I’m going with the first one. Today I got home late but was still determined to squeeze in a ride. With the sun ominously low in the sky, I set out for a twelve mile ride, that being all I had time for. Since the ride was so short, I decided I was going to go as hard as I could and just rip the route up. Still, it’s a ride, right? Now I had a choice to make. Ahead of me is a car waiting to turn left o...

Lunicycle - The Bicycle Blog: June 2009
http://lunicycle.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 29, 2009. This was a day of ups and downs, even though there weren’t a lot of hills on my commute. It was Saturday and I had to work. I could go in whenever I felt like it. They had turned off the air condition in the building, so it was hotter and more humid (humidor? Inside than it was outside. Nobody else was there so I could crank up my music while I worked. My Lovely Lovely was going to be out of town all day with our only working vehicle. I would get to commute on my bike. It’s h...

Lunicycle - The Bicycle Blog: April 2009

Thursday, April 30, 2009. Cycling is my antidepressant, and all the side effects are good. We had a meeting at work to discuss various economy related matters. It was during this meeting that the thought struck me that what I really needed was a good ride, so, after I got home, I went out and had one. It was warm windy and hazy out when I hit the road, but I was so glad to be spinning the pedals. I took off a moderately hard pace, not pushing it very much, letting my legs stretch out and my mind loosen up.

Lunicycle - The Bicycle Blog: February 2010
http://lunicycle.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 8, 2010. I rode ten miles yesterday and didn’t get anywhere. That’s probably about par for the course for me. The temperature outside was a chilly 34 degrees, with the wind chill well down into the twenties. That’s the wind chill if you’re standing still, of course. If you’re a goofball on a bicycle, who knows how cold you’d get. I didn’t want to find out, so I decided to ride in my garage. No, I’m not loony -. Instead, I rode the rollers. We’ll leave it at that.). Rollers are about the ...

Lunicycle - The Bicycle Blog: December 2009

Thursday, December 31, 2009. Windy windy windy windy windy. Another day, another ride. How nice is that? Before heading out I turned on the TV long enough to check the temperature. It was a balmy 50 degrees out. Not bad. I got kitted out and then headed out to the garage to put air in my tires, got hit by a blast of wind and immediately went back inside to put on more clothes. That’s not suspicious at all. Here are some ways to tell if it is windy. If your vest, which you thought more or less fit you oka...

Monday, November 30, 2009. It had these two sticky out bits (not that I want to get too technical on you) but they seemed awfully skinny. Then I found these odd shoes in my closet which, believe it or not, had metal sockets on them that the two skinny sticky out things fit neatly into with a satisfying click. Shorts. Heavy tights. Under armour. Jersey. Vest. Gloves. Toasti Toes. Balaclava. Wool socks. Shoes. Booties. Helmet. Wait a minute. Tights and booties? Yep, we cyclists are a manly lot. It sounds b...

Lunicycle - The Bicycle Blog: August 2009

Tuesday, August 25, 2009. Well, no. Actually what I thought was, “That’s a cool bumper sticker. I want it.”. At that moment the car’s owner, an older gentleman, walked up. “I like your bumper sticker,” I told him. I’m not normally one to strike up conversations with strangers, but I really liked that bumper sticker. I’ve seen several versions of it here and there, but none qute as snazzy as that one. Yes, I did just use the word. Alas I have bumper sticker envy. 8220;Why, yes there is.”. He then proceede...

Lunicycle - The Bicycle Blog: July 2009
http://lunicycle.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 29, 2009. One day the Seyboro Cyclists decided to ride to the beach. This is a regular occurrence – you ride about eighty miles (or a hundred if you want to start from a more distant location), you eat a big meal, you get driven back home, and a good time is had by all. There was one teensy little problem: it was hot. No, let me rephrase that. It was scorchingly blisteringly hot. Since we’d be driving back, that meant we had a nice little convoy of vehicles with us, so they sagged t...
