Friday, 13 June 2008. The council has referred our request for a declaration on the status of the allotments on Oxcroft Lane to Banner Jones Middleton Solicitors. This was some time ago and still no response! David Kee, Parish Clerk, assures us that he has reminded them that we are still waiting for their declaration. Stick to your Guns! Tuesday, 25 March 2008. The council has now declared our lotty site to be non-statutory which makes it easier to dispose of as the Secretary of State's permission is not required before the site can be sold. We shall challenge this via NSALG, as in a survey of English allotments carried out in 1997, our plots were described as being Statutory. We'll let you know how we get on with that one. While ever there is no planning consent for the allotment site then tenants can't be evicted! 26 March 2008 at 11:51.

Thursday, 3 July 2008. Two months on . And we heard back from the council's lawyers that instead of them proving our lotties are not statutory we have to prove they are! We think we're justified in thinking that we're being given the run around. Also the Town Council's announcement that they were forming an Allotment Management Committee was met with some mirth but with hope that at least it was some attempt by them to sort out the problems and turn the tide of neglect and down-managing its sites.
