DigCult, Anti-Panda Warfare Division

DigCult, Anti-Panda Warfare Division. Wednesday, May 9, 2007. I thought the text was rather interesting, actually, considering me as a socio-phobic (at least, to some extent, hehe). In many senses the concept of the mobile "phone" isn't at all relevant in this text since Rheingold relies on its (in some cases, possible) application(s), and not on its function (as a simple communications device). And that's what so fascinating about mobile phones, they do everything except ring people (because then yo...

DigCult, Anti-Panda Warfare Division: Folksonomies

http://www.digcultantipandawarfare.blogspot.com/2007/04/folksonomies.html

DigCult, Anti-Panda Warfare Division. Monday, April 23, 2007. I don't use that many sites based on folksonomies, except Wikipedia (using folksonomies? The idea of letting people input. As my own example of a page I use, I (unsurprisingly) wish to choose Wikipedia. Wikipedias core is its decentralized structure, based upon direct user contribution. It has managed to thrive due to the fact that people have taken seriously on their commitment to the information provided on the site. Thompson, silly as usual.

DigCult, Anti-Panda Warfare Division: Wikipedia

http://www.digcultantipandawarfare.blogspot.com/2007/05/wikipedia.html

DigCult, Anti-Panda Warfare Division. Tuesday, May 8, 2007. Wikipedia and the traditional encyclopedia. After some moments of thought I decided to make my search query "HDTV" as it is a technical term which has some relevance to me personally, but also being interesting to see how deep these encyclopedias go. The "opponent" is Encyclopedia.com which does its searches on multiple sources/encyclopedias. And yes, even if it's always a little nervy to say it, I think Wikipedia is a great site. As long as...

Thoughts on Wikipedia and EB. Wikipedia is a folksonomy website that grows and becomes stronger when more people are using the service. The fact that people contribute with their knowledge to feed this forever-growing database of wisdom, obviously unite the world to some degree. Although Wikipedia does not reflect the ideals of a country or nation, it indeed reflects the ideals of the world, and especially, it keeps up with the time we are living in. Friday, May 11, 2007. For this assignment, I have chosen to compare the entry “Blekinge Institute of Technology” in Wikipedia and in Encyclopedia Britannica. While in Wikipedia I found a short entry with general information about our university, it was not possible to find anything about it in EB. In Wikipedia anything can potentially become an article and, because of that, we are able to share information about any local subject to a global audience. The history to this is perhaps best articulated through the editorial of a special issue of the journal, Information Technology and People, that was published partly as a result of the events. Digital Culture and Practices 2011. March 2, 2011. Here’s a link to one of last year’s projects in Digital Cultures and Practices. This group chose to explore vlogging and communities online. They collaborated with Martin who posted a vlog post which the students then responded to. Students’ response video:. The project description can be found on Ola’s course blog.
