Despite it being the height of summer this weather hasn’t been helping the garden through what should be its period of peak productivity. Temperatures are lower than they should be and there’s little sunlight around at present. But in the face of pouring rain for much of today it was important to get out and harvest various things which had ripened. Gooseberries ripe for picking. A good gooseberry harvest from a humble (cheap! Just a few yards away the blueberry bush is in full production. Between the be...

Harvest Time | www.grow-veg.uk
https://grow-veg.uk/2015/06/27/harvest-time
For me, this is one of the best times of the vegetable growing year. Root crops have been rapidly swelling and there is so much lovely food to pick and enjoy. First out of the ground today was this trio of beetroots: one each of Detroit White, Golden and Chioggia. Colourful trio of beetroots. They ended up in a roasting bag with some swede, also picked today. Alongside are the first mangetout of the year. Beets ready for roasting, with mangetout alongside. Beetroot leaves – a spinach substitute. The thre...

https://chronicleofellen.wordpress.com/2015/08/14/ripple-crochet-blankie-done
Life, the universe and crafty goodness. Ripple Crochet Blankie Done! Today there is good and bad news. I finished the Ripple Crochet Blankie….yaaaay! It is the first time I have tried the ripple stitch which is a lot quicker to do than I expected. It has taken about 4 days, but I’ve been ill for 2 of them so I didn’t even touch it. I basically just used up 3 colours of yarn which had been sitting in my stash for awhile, but I think the pink looks a little strange around the edge though! 8212;—̵...

https://chronicleofellen.wordpress.com/52-books
Life, the universe and crafty goodness. Last year I managed 35 books in a year. Let’s see if I can beat that this year!
