Digging through code: Frustration
http://diggingthroughcode.blogspot.com/2016/04/frustration.html
Monday, April 25, 2016. There's so much frustration in the software industry, not only that it tends to get religious about it as well. Sometimes fiercely sometimes in a sober fashion, but mostly its fierce. Sometimes its between languages and sometimes its between platforms. It gets really ugly not only considering thread safety. Not going through all that but some of it can you read here. Quite frankly I think working with C# taught me that it's good to work with different platforms, though .NET is...
Digging through code: March 2015

Saturday, March 21, 2015. Why TDD is good for you. What I don't like with TDD. Also TDD does different thing to different languages so you get more from TDD in certain languages where others benefits less of it (one could argue that those languages which needs more TDD practices are bad languages). I really hope that we one day can get rid of TDD, but as for now, there are simply no better ways to write software. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Why TDD is good for you.

Wednesday, September 17, 2014. Why you SHOULD use layered architecture. Argues against using layered architecture since according to the post you simply don't change implementation of your database or implementation of JPA. Another factor of the "mess of layers" is the misuse of interfaces. And this is inherited by the fact that its simple to produce code interfaces but hard to create data interfaces and those are mostly overlooked. Such as when creating simple CRUDs. The report mentions "agile, lean and...
Digging through code: November 2013
http://diggingthroughcode.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 12, 2013. Deliverables, what it is really? I've seen so much horrific code delivered by "senior developers", I could almost cry. Is it really their fault? Is it because they are not familiar with the current industry which they are trying to develop some functionality a specific customer wants? Or it is the customer's fault for not being specific enough? Is it the platform they are developing for is inadequate? Or they are just not good enough? I watched a video. I believe the agile man...
Digging through code: July 2016

Saturday, July 30, 2016. Over engineering with CQRS pattern. I don't understand the CQRS pattern and the hype about it. Technically I believe I think I understand why people think why they want to use it. Do we really need a complete pattern of explaining that I'm writing or reading to a source? Is reading code so hard that I have to "encapsulate" the specific behavior of writing something to a database? What's wrong with update/insert? Do I really have to say SaveXCommand? I already KNOW it's a post!

Why Non-Blocking? | Bozho's tech blog
http://techblog.bozho.net/why-non-blocking
Bozho's tech blog. Tips and thoughts on developing software, by Bozhidar Bozhanov. March 2, 2015. I’ve been writing non-blocking, asynchronous code for the past year. Learning how it works and how to write it is not hard. Where are the benefits coming from is what I don’t understand. Moreover, there is so much hype surrounding some programming models, that you have to be pretty good at telling marketing from rumours from facts. So let’s first start with clarifying the terms. Two examples of frameworks/to...
