Di first visited Norway in 1998 to ice climb in the Tjorhorn Region and returned in 2005 to Rjukan and has been a regular visitor every year since to both Rjukan and Setesdal. As much as Di loves the Scottish winter scene sometimes it is nice to have a change. Di not longer advertises Norway ice climbing courses but is very happy to organise one on a Private Guiding basis. We base ourselves either in Rjukan or Setesdal depending on where we are climbing. How do I apply. Dates available on request.

Gary Fisher, Inside Aberdeenshire. Di Gilbert works full time as an Independent Mountaineering Instructor, based in the Cairngorm National Park. She has never had a proper job and it is unlikely that this will change now. Di has stood on the bottom of the world without falling off, she has stood on top of the world without suffering from vertigo, she has climbed the world's 7 summits and completed all 282 Munros. Di has finally admitted to bagging the Corbetts and is hoping that it will take less time to...

Following the adventures: Changing plans
http://digilbert.blogspot.com/2015/07/changing-plans.html
Monday, 20 July 2015. Instead of complaining about the summer, we are going to embrace it. We did pack the bolt climbing gear yesterday as we drove North but we also packed the dookers. When we drove over the brow of the hill and saw the Gates of Mordor up ahead, we turned left instead. Loch Duntelchaig - without doubt the coldest open water swim I have ever had. Keep up to date with the latest news. What we done . There is only one thing worse than .

Dates & Prices. Blog & Info. John Dallinson Level 1 St Gervais 2013. Di Gilbert MIC Level 2 Glenmore Lodge Cairngorms 2014. So, for the past 4 days, I was joined by an equally passionate group of MIC’s, as we sat the AAA Level 2 Course. This is the first time that a level 2 course has been run in the UK and I cannot recommend this enough. A structured course working to a established syllabus, demonstrated how little I actually knew about the white stuff. Ian and Helen Muir Level 1 St Gervais 2013. On pra...

Following the adventures: February 2015
http://digilbert.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, 28 February 2015. It's been quite challenging the past few days knowing what/where to go. So, for some bizarre reason we thought we would ski the length of Catrin. Planning a trip is always going to throw up problems and the latest plan was no exception. In true Di and Catrin fashion, this was completely last minute and for a whole day we flustered around setting up all the logistics and getting into place. We stupidly decided not to come out via The Fara and had 8 km of black concrete track to...

Following the adventures: August 2015
http://digilbert.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, 23 August 2015. Blowing in the wind. I do think we found one of the countries biggest cairns today and we're not speaking about just a random pile of thrown-on-top-of-each-other-stones. Which was probably a good thing since it did provide some kind of shelter from the blowy air. Thursday, 20 August 2015. I know it's only August, but that's me very nearly my Scottish summer work. Such a pleasure to spend the last few days with a really keen bunch of kids whilst wearing my Gold Expeditions. In typi...
Following the adventures: 25 years
http://digilbert.blogspot.com/2015/07/25-years.html
Friday, 31 July 2015. 25 years of marriage is a pretty big deal in today's world. I would assume that most couples making it this far in life together would like to mark this special occasion with a proper pampering holiday. But then again, Pam and Gary are not your normal couple. For the past 5 days we have avoided the heavy rain (nearly), enjoyed the views and ticked off all the Munros in the Cuillins. What is more impressive, neither Pam nor Gary would call themselves climbers or scramblers.
Following the adventures: October 2014
http://digilbert.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 22 October 2014. Some of you may have twigged that in a couple of weeks I am returning the Nepal to lead the Adventure Peak's Ama Dablam Expedition. For most people, this type of Expedition requires a big build up to allow normal life to continue with minimum disturbance. In typical fashion, I have 3 weeks to get my life in order. I have been asked once again to be one of the MCofS speakers for part of their Winter Lecture Series. Really, how many rucksacks do I need for winter? Deuter Guide L...
Following the adventures: And that was that
http://digilbert.blogspot.com/2015/08/and-that-was-that.html
Sunday, 2 August 2015. And that was that. We didn't even make it out the starting blocks for an attempt on the Skye Ridge Traverse on Saturday. If I am perfectly honest, we hardly made it out the car on Saturday morning. Within 10 minutes we were utterly drenched - nothing and I mean nothing stayed dry. However, we persevered and had a cracking day out. Todays mission was to get out, up, along, down, up and down before the rain set in again. Nice to be back on the mainland :). Blowing in the wind.

Friday, 17 November 2017. I have just worked out that since the middle of April I have spent 119 days living at high altitude, very high altitude or extreme altitude. This means that for 119 days I have been used to living in a space 7ft x 4ft x 4ft. I genuinely feel as if I am suffering from agoraphobia having returned home! Saturday, 14 October 2017. Getting back in the saddle. This will be a big trip for me. Not because it is technical or mega high, but because of Manaslu. And we will be updating the ...
